Whatever happened to adopting American orphans? Is there a shortage? Was it decided that American kids don't need parents? Or could it be that African Babies get more publicity? Hmmm....

Whatever happened to Americans using all the birth control options offered here that are not available in third world countries?

Its sad that adpoting kids from Africa is the new Holywood "in thing" to do. You know that the parents are just going to pawn them off on the nanny. Madonna

You gotta have a ton of money to cut through the usual red tape. You send scouts out to find a perfectly healthy baby that has been well cared for. Then you make a big show of all the orphanages you trudged through to find this sickly child that no one wants. You tell the same old story that goes along with all celebrity adoptions "The child had a hundred + fever and was at deaths door until (insert celeb name here) took custody and care of the child. Then you have all the paparazzi show up at the airport when you pick up your newly acquired child looking unbelievably healthy, rosy cheeked and well cared for. Unlike all those skinny malnourished kids laying in the orphanage in the news footage.
I am sure Madge, Angelina, Meg Ryan, Mia Farrow and all other celebs have their adoptee-to-be thoroughly checked over for any potential illnesses. I can't see any of them chancing getting one with real heath problems. It would mess with their life too much.
Just my observation.

What does it matter where she, or anyone for that matter, has adopted a child. She is fully capably of becoming pregnant, but instead choose to adopt. Brightening and enriching the life of one little boy. Who other wise may have lived a cold, unloved, and neglected life. For that reason alone, she should be commended. If it was your neighbour adopting a child from Africa, would you be slamming them aswell! Think about it.

I think people are addopting children from Africa and other countries because the American Orphans get much more care from out government. But the underdeveloped Continents like Asia and Africa don't provide such care. I have been to an orphanage in India and the kids there barely have clothes to wear!
