J-Hud Could Be the New Queen of Soul
Can you smell that? That's the smoke pouring out of Beyonce's ears.
The Daily News heard from the original Queen of Soul's friends that Jennifer Hudson is the front-runner to play Aretha Franklin in the stage adaptation of her Highness' life.
I think Jen would be fabulous as a young Aretha. The problem is that she thinks so too. With the whole Oscar thing in her pocket, Jennifer is not the picture of humility these days. She definitely has talent, but I'm pretty sure the public is already sick of her.

I don't agree. I've seen Beyonce Knowles interviewed on TV several times and she comes across as a humble, uncomplicated person. For her, I wish that she'd use her singing talent in a more serious way ("Listen" was a good start). I love Jennifer Hudson's voice and I hope she doesn't make the mistake of singing hip/hop. She has a dynamite voice and she should sing classic soul. Also, I'm praying that she keeps herself grounded and not allow that Oscar to go to her head (she's still has something to prove). The Aretha Franklin project would be wonderful for her, but she needs to try a straight, non-singing role for her next film project. Also, she doesn't want to end up on one of those foolish TV sitcoms. I am hoping she has wise management, which will guide her in the right direction. She doesn't need sterotyping.
isn't this old news? i thought at the time of the golden globes that aretha herself gave an interview saying that she had hand picked jennifer to play her in the biopic...
Not true. Aretha is holding auditions at this very moment, casting for the stage show AND the movie on her life. Jennifer Hudson is "in the running."
