Ellen DeGeneres's Visit Could Cause Friction in New York
Ellen DeGeneres is still ticking off writers in L.A., as she continues to work during their strike. Now Ellen might be looking at some angry East Coast faces, as she prepares to head to New York to tape some shows.
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) issued a statement Friday saying, "We certainly intend to let Ellen know our dissatisfaction in person if she decides to proceed with the shows she has scheduled in New York on November 19th and 20th. She is not being respectful of people in the industry."
According to Warner Brothers, the dancing talk show host is just doing her job. "Ellen has not done anything in violation of the Writer's Guild of America agreement, or the WGA's internal 'Strike Rules.' We have asked Ellen to come back to work to fulfill her contractual obligation."
Ellen said last week, when the strike began, that she supported and loved her writers, but did not want to disappoint the fans that traveled to see her.
People LOVE to picket in New York, for any reason, so, I'm sure, even the least interested people will come out to walk the line.

Don't believe one word from any public figure about the economy..They are all part of the problem..Its like a game of Monopoly..The richest 1% now own more than 1/2 of all United States wealth..That is more than the upper,middle,and lower classes combined..Now,a recession is inevidable..The middle class can no longer afford to sustain their share of the economy..But the rich won't stop..They will do whatever it takes to get even richer..This is going to end just like a game of Monopoly..A total collapse of the US economy..The richest 1% will run off to their mansions and live like royalty while the rest of us fight over jobs,food,and gasoline..Don't fall for this 'good will' BS from celebrities and executives..Remember..They are filthy rich EVEN AFTER their tax deductable contributions..Greedy pigs..Now, we are headed for the worst depression of all time..Crime,poverty,and suicide will skyrocket..SEND A "THANK YOU" NOTE TO YOUR FAVORITE MILLIONAIRE..Please copy and spread the word..
Great Depressions are caused by the huge transfer of wealth to a tiny minority at the top of the pyramid, which as Einstein put it, causes 'instability' in the 'utilization of capital' which then results in 'increasingly severe depressions' with the severity of the depression correlated directly with the degree of income inequality that has developed in a society. In other words, greedy millionaires and billionaires are going to cause the worst economic depression of all time. As their paychecks get bigger and bigger, our economy becomes more unstable. I'm not discounting other major factors like subprime and gas prices. But if it weren't for that HUGE transfer of wealth, we would be OK. Bottom line. The middle class will soon live in poverty because of people like Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, and EVERY CELEBRITY. So don't fall for their 'humanitarian' BS. Its nothing but an excuse for their incredible greed. Now, we are headed for the worst economic and cultural crisis of all time.
like I have said before, unless Ellen has hired other writers then she has done nothing wrong!
Why do these writers think that THEY can control what people do with their own shows?
They are striking for good reasons, but they cannot force other people (camera crews, make-up people etc) to lose their incomes too!
And once again, if Ellen has enough of her OWN original material to keep the show going then she has every right to continue!
Why are the writers not protesting against shows that are still taping with use of already written material (Grey's, DH)
I think the writers might he upset because she is funny, she may not need writers if she can continue without them. She has done nothing wrong, she is working and full filling her contract obligations!!

This is a catch 22, the writers striking is affecting many more - like cameramen & makeup artists and the like all across the board - so it's nice Ellen is helping them, while keeping her audience pleased.
But if you are striking, you know that the support of these others being affected by your cause helps the negotiations go faster -

You go girl Ellen! Dont give in to the bullying. People have a right to strike but NOT to intimidate and scare everyone to believe what they believe. What are we a dictatorship that everyone's life has to come to a halt becuase a bunch of people decided to strike. GET OVER IT YOU WRITERS and dont sign contracts you think you may want to change later on. DUH!!
