Marie Osmond's Son Enters Rehab

marieosmond1.jpg
It's been a tough season for Dancing with the Stars's Marie Osmond. First she passed flat out, on live television, after performing a dance number on the show, then her beloved dad passed away, and now comes news that her 16-year-old son Michael has entered rehab.

Marie confirmed the news to Larry King on Wednesday. “My son Michael is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues,” Marie said in a statement. “As his mother, I couldn’t be more proud of him. The press and public have always been kind and gracious in the past and I know they will continue to respect our privacy during this time.”

No word on what demons put him in rehab.

Maybe there is such a thing as a DWTS curse?

That kid was adopted and probably saved from a bad life. You'd think he'd be more grateful and not cause problems.

Eight children are a lot--whether adopted or biological. How could each one get their parents' time and attention? Marie and (second) husband are divorcing--so that must also put strain on family. I once read that two daughters--one adopted and one biological--were also out of control. Hope that isn't true. One bad apple is enough.

Nancy Drew- Making mistakes and being a teenager does not make a child a "bad apple", as you say. Mistakes should be expected by parents with children this age. We all made them growing up. That is part of the job as a parent, picking your children up when they fall. Good Luck to them all, and God Bless.

well if he is adopted then there is a good chance that addiction problems could run in his biological family!

Having experienced a child going into rehab, I feel what the family is going thru, I wish her all the prayers, and courage, and mostly patience, she will need in the future, it is a long road , Marie is blessed with a family that will give her the support , she will need, this affects families of all types, there is no right or wrong, Daisey

JENNI thank you for saying that. i just cant understand how some people can be so heartless and mean spirited. everybodies got a family member they have to put in the closet when company comes over.i guess this blog is for our comments, but then again in the long run, it really doesnt matter what we think about the matter, its up to marie, family, friends, faith and preseverance (sp?)

I too recalled something about Marie's daughters. I googled them to refresh memory. Both girls wrote sexually explicit comments on MySpace. The adopted daugher says she is bisexual and needs lots of sex; the biological girl (under-age) calls herself a slut. Looks like Marie needs a built-in oversize closet to hide all the skeletons in HER family. The extended Osmond family might be as close as they say they are, but Marie's "nuclear" clan is sure lacking. Maybe she shouldn't go on tour since it appears the kids are acting up and need help and guidance.

To the people saying that these teenagers are bad apples and call themselves sluts on Myspace, etc....

Surprise! Most, if not all, teenagers are doing drugs and having sex. Some just don't hide it well enough or get too messed up on said drugs. Saying that this is Maries fault or the industries fault, is totally irresponsible and shameful behavior.

So these are those nice Mormon values.

Its sad to see Mormon woman being treated like broodmares and then knowing in their faith they will also be treated like that mormon heaven.{Mormon women get to pop out all the little spirit baby's the hubby wants}

Give the girl a break for crying out loud ... she's been working since she was a wee one ... have you not ever been a teen? no matter what 'world' you come from, there are hormones and peer pressure at work ~ no matter who mom and dad are! The adopted kids might have something in their genetics that have affected their ability to cope with being raised by a mom in the spotlight. Geez, give her some credit for entertaining us for so many years ... so she made some mistakes!!! I think she bleed like the rest of us humans! Shame on all of you for your negative comments!

I am a mother of 4, a grandmother of 5 and to raise children today isn't a picnic, but it was easier in my day.Probally because there was less sex, drugs, TV showing all kinds of things. But one thing we had was more compassion and understanding, which I don't see in this website. It's amazing, that most of the above people are so perfect as to be in condemnation of other people. Just wait until someone, someday verbally attacks your children.

anita..don't let the negative posters get you down. Even the negative people are good people, they just use this site to vent or pretend to be someone nasty. They could be sweet as pie in real life and come on here and wreak havoc. Pay no mind! I wish the Osmond family well and will pray for them.

I agree with Anita, It is harder raising kids now a days. The teenage years are difficult, and kids seem to be getting difficult at even an earlier age .We were lucky to get through them without the benefit of being in the public eye.No matter if you have one , two , four, six, , or more kids, adopted or not, There still can be problems. AND sometimes no matter how much time you spend with your kids , sometimes it just isn't enough!Women have too much to prove to others in this day and age, work , marriage, kids, and we have to do it ALL well. It's exhausting! Best wishes to Marie during this hard time.

Sorry about the double post.

And I have to say.... One Bad apple Don't ruin the whole bunch...Since that seems to have been mentioned a few times here.

SophBee said:

It is not just Marie's responsiblity to be there to help and guide her children in the right direction, They have a father , also. Not TRYING to be snotty , just stating a fact here. You have to work togther for the sake of the kids, whether you are together as a couple or not.If you don't, it just causes that many more problems for your kids.

Mormon women don't pop out all the babies their hubbies want... in fact, Mormons DO believe in birth control and many of them don't even have children, it is up to each family. Perhaps you should know something about a subject before you comment.
That is why I almost never comment on any of these articles because none of us ever know the "real" story....

First off.... I have to say that none of us know what its like to be in the limelight 24/7. So we cannot judge simply because we dont walk in her shoes. I am appalled that Larry King blindsided her with this on national tv. How dare he ... Everyone deserves the right to their privacy. Marie is a beautiful person inside and out who like everyone else does not have a perfect life. Would we want all our family issues plastered here and there? Enough said.

yankee jo said:

I think it was pretty snarky of Larry to bring up such a painful subject on national television, especially with everything else Marie is dealing with. I like her. I think she's a neat person and I'm sure she's probably a great mother. Kids have problems, no matter how wonderful their mothers are. You can't always blame that on the parents. But the fact that this son is adopted means that he probably has more issues to deal with than most -- and some may be genetic. So give them both a break, pray for them. I also pray their eyes will be opened and they'll get out of that cult they're involved with. Yes, I said CULT.
