I know accidents happen, but why do the Spears feel the need to 'announce' this to the world?? Why not keep it quiet, whatever the outcome? I have to say, i blame a lot of there problems on the parents, shame on then for pushing them into the spotlight at such young ages. I'm with Jackie. I had my son just befor I turned 21 and I make about $20 an hour and still struggle as a single "working" parent. In an average sociity money is a big part of servival of your house hold. At least she has that, Money on her side. We will just have to stay tuned on what her parentingskills are. And to Britney: Keep your head up. Being a mother is tough work and I can only emagine if I had the pressure of the world watching me...

My daughter is college now and about to become a nurse,(not a serial killer as mentioned in another post). Her father and I are happily married after 24 years. We all know that every time you have sex you don't get pregnant. I firmly believe that this child was meant to be. However, I feel deep sadness for this child. How in the world can you love and raise a child when you don't love yourself? The things Brittany and her sister do tell you that they neither love nor even like themselves. Bringing a child into the world is a major, major responsibility. K-Fed is now raising Brittany's boys. Is that what's going to happen here? I mean, this is not a doll that wets and you can just walk away. This is an honest to God person that you have to make a commitment to for 18 years and sometimes beyond. Children need to feel safe and loved. They need structure. They also need to know that you're going to be there for them. This girl is just starting a career. She thinks, as did her sister, that she is in love. What happens when the glow wears off to the child? If giving he/she to grandma or grandpa is an option, just look at how she and big sis turned out.

"law crap"? It is because we are no longer in the medieval era that we DO have laws to begin with. The reason those other teens dump their babies or abort them is that, unlike Jamie here, they dont have the financial resources or support. So it isnt as black and white as you would like it to be. The only reason I keep bringing up the law is because it was put there to negate the outright sexual deviants out there that prey on the young and say "she/he wanted it". This is why the law exists! The only way to be 100% sure you're not going to get pregnant is abstinance and that obviously wasn't the case. And it wasn't breaking the law, he is 19, she is 16, that's not more than 3 years. Here in New Zealand, 16 years is the legal age, but we still have 13 year old kids having... kids. I am 17, but I would never dream of having kids so young, teens still have a life to live. Well, Sure it probably wasnt the smartest move to announce her pregnancy right yet, but it was going to have to be announced sooner or later. There was a case in Georgia where a 17 yr. old was charged and convicted for having sex with a 15 yr. old .Later a higher court overturned the conviction and the law has been changed because it was deemed unjust to criminalize teenagers having sex. I'll actually be pretty surprised if the father is old enough for it to be statutory rape and he doesn't get cited for it. He probably wouldn't serve any time, but be fined, put on probation, have to do community service, and have his name put on an offenders list. California in particular files charges a lot in the case of pregnancy, even despite protests by the victim and her parents to such charges. I'd really hope that Jaime Lynn's lawyer considered this (and made sure Casey was just young enough) before letting her appear in OK.

At 19 you are legally an adult. If he had commited say murder, he would be going to the main prison, not Juvenille Hall. And in the case you stipulated, guess what, they are both minors. This is not the case with Jamie and her boyfriend. In Georgia the lage of consent was 14, but changed to 16 after 2002. Remember age of consent does not mean you are seen as an adult by the law, age of consent was established so said people could get married with reprimands from the law. So you could marry, and still not vote, drink, or own a gun. Depends on what state you are on of course. And in Georgia there are many other factors that have not been addressed as of yet, so the age of consent may change again.

Quite frankly, this isn't that big of a deal. There is no reason to be shocked. 16 year olds are getting pregnant everywhere more and more frequently. It's sad, but true. And it's not just 16, but 15 and even younger. It's become common and I think it's terrible that this girl is using it as a way to get a cover and publicity, only making it more appealing to her young impressionable fans out there.

I'm proud of her for keeping her baby! Even though she is very young to become a mother, she is at least being responsible enough to value her baby's life! Honestly, the only difference between her and other teen stars is that she "got caught" so to speak.
