What's funny is if you look at many 15 year old myspace pages (I happen to have a 15 year old sister which is why I know this) they all have similar pictures up, sometimes even more risque than the supposed "racy" Miley photos. People need to stop trying to lump her in with LiLo, Brit, Paris and all of the other crashing stars. Finally we have a star that kids can look up to. Having four sisters, twelve nieces and a teenaged daughter who has sleep overs all the time, I know teenaged girls can be silly, hugging each other all the time, and can "show off" for the camera, so I assumed there was a big deal made over nothing. I saw the pictures though, and I agree with Deena. The pictures are very questionable, but it doesn't seem Miley can see that. I don't think she should be "attacked." She is just a child, and even good kids can show poor judgement and make mistakes. If she were my daughter though, we would have a long talk.

I don't think a lot of kids shows represent family values period. They introduce too many older themes: like dating and kissing. Elementary and middle schoolers are too young to be thinking and worrying about that. Some high schoolers are even too young. I am not at all a fan of Miley Cyrus. I think her show, Hannah Montana, is stupid and impossibly ditzy. In fact, due to her annoying fans in my class, I might hate her. However, no one deserves this much bad press over having harmless fun.

While I don't think there's anything wrong with what happened in the photos, regardless of the the intention, I do think it's strange that so many parents rely on stereotypical TV figures to provide role models to their children. There are so many other ways to encourage our children to be good people. I'm personally more disgusted by the photos of her made up and dressing up for the camera, with a startlingly fake smile for a fifteen year old. Let's teach our children to think and express and be creative rather than buying into the pseudo-reality that "role models" like Hannah Montana provide.

I'm so tired of parents putting down other parents for little things like letting their kids watch Hanna Montana, or allowing their kids to dress trendy. I allow my daughter to dress trendy and watch the Hanna Montana show and it hasn't stolen her innocence. Trendy doesn't mean immodest, it's just a fun up to date way of dressing! Also, I talk to my daughter about anything we see on Hanna Montana or any other show, even the rare kissing shown on Hanna, and my daughter is only seven. We talk about how these are older kids and that behavior isn't meant for her age group. We talk about the values we have regarding kissing, boys, friendships, and on and on. I refuse to try and put my little girl in a bubble and pretend these things don't exist. She is a top student in her class, a Christian girl, and very well behaved, so what have I done wrong as a parent? I have not seen the pictures myself, but please, leave here alone!! We all did goofy off the wall stuff as teenagers (Admit it! even the cool kids acted dorky too.) She seems like a down to earth girl who has not let thte trappings of fame and celebrity change who she ultimately. I have 5 kids, and my eldest 3 who are 13,11, and 9 (the 11 year old being a boy) enjoy watching the show, and I have no apprehensions of watching it myself. As a responsible parent, I feel it is my duty to discuss things we watch together. I see nothing wrong with the show and am glad that Miley is able to keep her chin up and walk tall amidst the crud going on around her. For the person who commented about her going back to school, there are tutors and classes on sets where kids are working so that they can be educated, so she isnt missing out. in fact, they get more one on one than kids in a regular classroom do, so they are better able to succeed.
