Kiefer Sutherland Goes to Jail
It's going to be a sucky Christmas for Kiefer Sutherland, as the actor surrendered to jail yesterday. Kiefer was sentenced to 48 days in the slammer, for his September DUI arrest and for violating probation.
"Mr. Sutherland is very polite and humble. He was very cooperative during the booking process," said a jail spokesman. "He will be issued an orange jumpsuit, and will be housed alone in a cell, since he'll be a long-term inmate."
The 24 star will likely serve the entire sentence, which is rare for the Hollywood folk. "Sutherland will be serving the 48 days in the Glendale City Jail, with no early release and no good time/work time credit, so we expect that he will serve the entire 48 days in jail," said a statement from the L.A. City Attorney's office.
His new digs will consist of an 8 by 10 cell with a toilet, sink and water fountain. He will receive three meals a day (two hot, one cold) and will be allowed visitors between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. for 15 minutes each. No more than two visits per day are allowed. He will be assigned to laundry and kitchen duty, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to the other inmates, and as inmate worker he'll be allowed to roam the jail most of the day, as opposed to being confined to his cell.
It shouldn't be too bad for Kiefer, he can probably just pretend he's shooting a movie. For 48 days. With no breaks. And no cushy trailer. A low budget movie!!

It's funny how he is serving for his dui and Lindsay had a dui and cocaine and never served a day she went to hide in a rehab clinic, and how Britney drove with no license had her baby in no car seat, and drove past a stop sign, and several red lights but she never served time? As for Kiefer, he is a doll and a class act. He has a problem, and he needs to tackle it head on with the same 'take no prisoners' attitude that 'Jack Bauer' would. I wish him well and hope that the time passes quickly and he can soon be on the road to recovery.
And YES,...I also feel like the book got thrown at Kiefer (as it should have after multiple violations), but why did those nitwit females get off so easy?!?!?

I feel bad for Kiefer but you reap what you sow. I hope Kiefer learns from this. In reality the normal person with 4 DUI's on his record would spend much more than 48 days in jail. Luckily for celebs, Los Angeles has a system where you can go to a smaller jail in Culver City, Glendale etc. and pay for your own confinement. Guess thats what he is doing. Lets hope a diversion program goes along with the lenient treatment. I like him but he needs to join the abstaining group..Hail to "24"
I don't feel bad for him. 4 DUI's!!! Of course he should do time. I don't know about being classy. A friend of mine saw him in a bar in Toronto and he was so drunk he pulled his pants down and sat with his buddies drinking.

From what I hear from people in LA who see him out and about, Keifer is always the drunkest one in the bar.
My guess is that maybe he realizes he has issues, and didnt hire some high priced attorney to get him off for 84 minutes served like the other recent jailmates did.
Maybe he wants to spend time doing time, bc he knows he deserves it and just bc he is a celeb, he does not feel he is above the law.
Maybe also he will use this time for some real time research for Jack Bauer.
Or maybe, Jack Bauer will break out of prison as he nothing ever seems to touch him.
Im on wealthy Millonaire and I havent seen him on there before. anyways he is a very gifted actor and wish ll the best for him. maybe he will see the light someday but for all poeple, they will change when they are ready never before. good luck Keiffer.
I am so sad to hear what has happened to Keifer Sutherland. I am a HUGE fan to say the least. Have seen EVERY single movie he has ever made even the low budget ones that were not in theaters. I am a die hard 24 fan and have never missed an episode, also have every season on dvd. Keifer to me, is that "one actor/actress" that you wish you could meet. As a recent inmate myself I am sure this experience will have great effect on his life and outlook!

i've kept an eye on this actor hes come along way since he first began and people are not perfect its one day at a time and some time we fall just hope hes still getting up and moving foward hang in there it will be ok
i wish him all the best cos some peolpe would like to be in his shoes. some don't get one meal a day both in jail and in the outside but he has three meals a day.all the same keep the energy you have and keep moving forward till you get to your limit. take care kiefer
I am really shock and upset that he himself delivered to jail since 48hrs,he no way wrong man actually he is one of the man with innocent and honest and loose no time at all in wrong way because he is an good actor and smart and can't do any kind of bad things.

Really i think if he violated his porale with a DUI he shouled get a longer sentence. For 2 reasons: 1- he is like so old and he should know by now that drinking and driving don't mix and that he could've hurt someone and 2- he sucks so he should get a longer sentence then that.

I agree that he deserves to do the time for the crime he committed and it appears he does, too. Hopefully he will learn and be a better person. What I don't understand is why, with all the money these stars make they can't have a driver on call at all times? And I agree that the female celebs seem to be getting lighter sentences for serious offenses. Money talks in this case! Keifer will be back and even better.
