Lynne Spears on Jamie Lynn's Pregnancy: "I Was Shocked"
Jamie's twelve weeks along with Casey Aldridge's baby and the baby was not planned. "It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," Jamie Lynn told OK!, according to the Associated Press. "I was in complete and total shock and so was he."
Britney's little sis took a home test then went to the doctor to confirm she was expecting, but waited two more weeks before telling her parents -- which she did right before Thanksgiving. "I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone's opinion affect my decision," she told the mag. "Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me."
When she did break the news to Jamie and Lynne Spears they just about lost their minds. "I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious," Lynne said. "She's never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby."
Oh yeah, and Lynne's book on parenting is "delayed indefinitely," according to her publisher. Ya think?

JW, I don't normally bother to write specifically to anyone but blaming her mother isn't right. How many 16 year olds get pregnant a day in this country? Most teens start dating at sixteen and all the moms can do is hope and pray that their kids are being responsible. Besides, Britney got pregnant after getting married.

This young girl is not the first teen to get pregnant, nor is she going to be the last... hopefully she will learn from her sister and become a better parent.

No she's not the first teen to become pregnant but when you look at the two girls together it's not exactly a shining example of parenting skills of the part of Lynne Spears. What a mess!

I agree with the people blaming her mother. But its as much her mothers fault as it is her sister. We live what we learn. Jamie Lynne should have been able to discuss with her mother that she was sexually active. And look at the role model she has in her sister? And quite honestly...if you think your grown enough to have sex...your grown enough to buy condoms or use some other form of birth control.

UNEXPECTED?!?! For crying out loud,how praytell is this unexpected? "Oh gee, Im sorry I ejaculated in you several occassion, Im sure nothing will happen, because, I love you baby!" This thought is what I imagine he was saying to her, or god knows something else even stupider. Unexpected...please spare us the lies. Unexpected would be cancer when you lead a healthy life. Unexpected would be getting hit by a drunk driver while you are obeying the laws of the road. Unexpected is anything BUT getting pregnant because you are having sex without protection! I'm sorry I am been so blunt but this is just beyond my threshold of tolerance. This is not a simple "oops"! Now another life is been brought here because someone was careless. Good job, real good job. And if her parents would act like parents they would press charges.

Good points here guys but isn't it a possibility to get pregnant on the pill and other forms of birth control? Nothing and I mean NOTHING out there is 100% effective. Well except for abstinence of course...but we're talking about hormone crazed teenagers here! I'm proud of Jamie-Lynn for thinking through what she wants to do and then talking with her parents about it. I don't agree with selling the story to a tabloid but hey, she might need that money if Nickelodeon cancels her show. I'm also proud of her because instead of using what money she has and getting an abortion, she is going to be responsible and take care of this baby. She will miss out on a lot of teenage stuff, but she will be okay. I hope and pray she doesn't flip out like Britney has. I wish her much luck and love.

Hey, as ppl said above thousands of teenagers get pregnant every year and have their babies, who says they're going to be bad parents? i'm a parent and i'm 18, my son is 8 months, ppl should realise age shouldnt really matter it doesnt make a person a bad parent
Ppl should also lay off Lynn as a parent she can only do so much, and what it she going to do? Follow jamie-lynn around all the time, into the bedroom? even if Lynne has given her information about sex and whatever,she's a teenager and she'll do what she wants, thats an important part of being a teenager, learning, if something unexpected happens you cant blame a mother for her 'lack' of parenting skills, it just comes down to the fact that ppl are going to do what they want, regardless of what their parents tell them
