I really think they shouldn't let her go early or let her get away with not complying with getting the help she so desperately needs. I hope she gets the help she needs. My father was Bipolar and it's a horrible mental illness that can be treated with the right medicine and therapy. It takes it's toll on everybody concerned. The loved ones suffer just as much, if not more. They are in my prayers.

I'm relieved to hear she may be getting the help she desperately needs. I was a Britney fan earlier in her career, but she lost me when she was 'remade'. Those cries have continued through another marriage, two virtually back-to-back pregnancies and a divorce, all interlaced with bizarre behavior. Let's all pray that Britney gets the help she needs this time around! Hopefully she's hit her bottom and will allow herself to get the medical attention she desperately needs! As far as Kevin Federline.....I haven't seen pics of him parading those babies around, or giving out interviews (unlike her current boyfriend, Adnan), or trashing her to the press - obviously he is too busy trying to care for those two little ones - and doing whatever work he can get that will fit into his life now that he is doing double duty parenting. Hey - if it were any two other people in the same situation...this whole story would have played out differently - she'd have been thrown into a medical facility for treatment sooner without being able to leave and there would be more support for the one parent who was left caring for the kids!

Methadone does NOT cause the symptons Brittany's showing. Brittany's behavior started after giving birth to her children. Remember she dropped the oldest boy while putting him in a highchair and then driving with one of them on her lap. Bipolar starts with chemical changes in the brain such as hormones in pregnancy. Besides she's had drug tests.

Did you forget that she has been in Rehab before? Treatmnet centers don't admit people unless they have a drug problem. Also, many women turn to drugs to cope with life after having kids and divorce.

Its good that she is getting help..I have 3 children and with each child it does take your hormones for a loop.plus I am divorced as well so I understand her plight. And believe it or not the money sometimes hurts and doesnt help..she is searching for so much that she needs to find within herself. I will keep her in pray. I pray that Britney will get the help she needs for her bipolar disease, I am a counselor, and also have family members that have bi-polar, I know first hand how difficult this could be, but I do know with the right medication she can become back to her baseline again, unfortunelty major stressors affect this disease, as in the case of losing her two babies, I feel for this girl, and I hope and pray she gets the help she needs, as this is a serious condition and requires medication and theraphy. She needs to talk deeply about her feelings of losing her children as this is affecting her more than she cares to admit... I am a bipolar patient too. Please respect Brit and understand her actions, because these are sympotms of the illness. She may be fighting against it (you just don't know!) but her condition makes it very hard for her and it sometimes does not make her succeed. What she needs is support and love from people who matter to her, and even from the public (since she is a celebrity). Please do not think she is bad and simply calling attention and want media hype. She has a heavy condition which thousands of people have too. It's just that she is a celebrity, that's why people highlight it too much! Let's all pray that she responds well to her treatment -- medication and psychotherapy. This hospitalization will help her rest.

bipolar is a crock of shit. everyone knows anybody can be diagnosed with this. my aunt was a neuropsychiatrist and she said she had seen such a rampant over-diagnosis of this "disorder" she was appalled-- adding that she didn't even think it would be considered a disorder in future generations. it is a BEHAVIORAL affliction, not a PHYSIOLOGICAL one. these people "misbehave" because of a variety of factors, including stress and environment. change the behavior, change the "disease."

Ms. Spears: don't let someone ruin your life and convince you that you are diseased and afflicted and have to be medicated on potentially quite dangerous pills for the rest of your life. learn self control, take responsibility for your actions, eat healthy, exercise, don't smoke/drink/dabble in drugs, go to sleep at night, grow up, and get away from everyone gaslighting you.

there is NO DIFFERENCE b/w a bipolar person's brain and a "normal" persons --they have never been able to prove it on any type of CAT or PET scan, it is NOT like schizophrenia where you see actual tissue abnormalities, no one's brain produces abnormal amounts of serotonin /dopamine type chemicals one way or another. chemicals are released BECAUSE of your mood, which is mostly influenced by OUTSIDE FACTORS and your attitude towards them, and your personal lifestyle.

I think that she needs some down time, this is a very disturbing illness and she needs time away from the cameras and news hounds. Kevin should be on his knees praying his money train is not on a runaway track, that useless SOB. If she does have a mental illness, drug abuse is going to amplify the problems.

It is said that Tourette's Syndrome is caused by a problem with the dopamine levels in the brain.

I can't wait to tell my 9 year old son, that he no longer has to have daily medication to try to control his involuntary body movements caused by his Tourette's. Going off your entry, I just need to tell him to snap out of it, his body chemicals are working fine. If it was as simple as mood/lifestyle then my son wouldn't have Tourette's.

He's a happy 9yr old, who sleeps well, doesn't drink, smoke, or take drugs & is living in a very happy/stable household. His 'tics' are there whether he's happy, sad, stressed, angry or whatever other mood you can think of. We try relaxation methods, have him eat healthy, etc. Unfortunately, even with all of this, & his positive attitude, he still cannot control the 'tics' without medication.

I too, think that there are some 'conditions' that are over diagnosed, BUT you can't take away the fact that some people do have genuine mental/medical problems, that DEFINITELY need medicating.

You shouldn't talk about things you know little about, especially on something so serious. As one day, a person who has a mental illness, may read your entry and think "Gee she's right, I'm not taking my medication anymore. I'm just going to change my lifestyle"

Next thing, this person who could only function 'normally' whilst being medicated, is completely fucked up & beyond help. Are you going to be there to pick up the pieces for them (& their family) if it was through your misinformed ideas??

Anyone out there who is on medication for a mental illness, please DO NOT ever take notice of others who say you can do without it (unless of course it is your doctor). Even if you are feeling 'better' after doing a lifestyle change, continue to take your medication. As you'll often find that it is the medication that has in fact made you 'better'!!
