Dr. Phil "Sets the Record Straight" on Britney Visit
It's so ridiculous that Dr. Phil is even messed up in all of this Britney Spears hoopla, but the TV doc wants the world to know that Brit's mama asked him to go see her -- he didn't just decide Britney would be his next project.
"I want to set the record straight. I went to see Britney at the request of her family. I talked to Lynne, Jamie and Brian [Brit's brother] because they were frustrated that she wasn't going to be held for a longer time," he said on CBS's The Early Show this morning.
"Thursday night, the phone rang, it was Lynne. Clearly she was very upset, as any parent would be," he said. "I was first contacted by her family a year ago and had maintained a running dialogue for the last year or so."
Dr. Phil is scheduled to have a show dedicated to Britney's problems this week. As for the chances that Britney will show up on the chat-fest, I'll have to go with slim to none.

I applaud Dr. Phil visiting Britney in hospital. Someone needs to straighten her out before she harms her children or her herself. She needs serious help and Dr. Phil is the best at what he does. Nothing else as worked so far. Give him a crack at her. God help those children.

DR. Dr. Phil might as well take a flying leap! Britney is doing just what she wants to do. Breaking the law and getting away with it! Sure, the bimbo was drinking and on drugs, but since she is white they will go out of their way to lie and protect her because if she was found to be high on drugs, she would have went to jail. Now by not doing anything, Britney is free to carry on down the road to hell!

Usually I don't read your posts JD, but today, I agree when it comes to Dr. Phil. Why couldn't he help behind closed doors? What ever happened to confidentiality? I guess if you are a singer or actor, you lose that right.

um.. I find it strange that he would visit Spears then have a show about her problems, wouldn't that be unethical as to doctor patient confidentiality??

Remember this is the same guy who married Aaliyah {RIP} In 1995 when he was 27 and she was 15!. Both their camps initially denied the rumor, but VIBE magazine published a copy of their marriage license, which showed that Aaliyah's age had been falsely listed as 18. What cynical people here! As someone who had to have her own mother committed to a hospital for alcoholism by other other family members, I can certainly attest that the person in question is not always the best decision maker, despite the topic in question being their life and how they are living it. Good for Dr. Phil for trying to intervene, and good to her family for asking him.

Psychologists work the kinks out...psychiatrists get psychiatric illnesses under control with medication FIRST...NO ONE can talk to a person who is in a psychotic or manic state...that comes later.

Unfortunately nothings going to happen to these rich, spoiled brats until they actually either hurt someone or themselves. Even when they kill someone, in a lot of cases, they buy their way out. Get off Dr. Phill's butt people. Brit is the problem. She has been allowed to get by with all sorts of bad behavior for years. Her family and associates have let her. She thinks she is the Queen Mary and can have do or say anything she wants. These kids in lala land need to be taught they are ROLE MODELS for all kids growing up in America and other countries. I think its great Dr.Phill is puplic in his assesments and forces the family to go puplic with their problems so these spoiled children of todays generation will see that their are consequiences to there actions and that parents no matter how much money they got are not always right in the way we teach our children. I personally think EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE should take lessons from the Dog Whisper on rasing children too.

Geez! I don't give a rat's behind about anyone but those two beautiful little boys who are the real losers here. Those little boys should be taken away from all the screwballs and hidden for the rest of their lives and in no way should they be told who their parents are. Neither is fit nor the grandparents. They need to be saved. As for the mom, she needs a psych workup, monitored meds, taken far away and live in the real world - bipolar or not. She needs reality. Put her millions in a well guarded trust fund for the babies. The dad admits to smoking pot. He's no better than mom. Dr. Phil? Yes, he pads his pockets with other people's woes but, d'uh, we let him. He's changed. He's getting to be more like Jerry Springer every day. He USE to be caring and helpful. What happened? Let's save those little boys now. Some damage has already been done. Both look like they have FAS and the younger one looks like he has an eye anomoly - slightly crossed eye. Save those babies!!
