Us Weekly on Heath Ledger: Secretly Struggling with Addiction

UsweeklyHeath.jpg

I'm sure this is just the first of many magazines that will have Heath Ledger splashed on the cover.

Us Weekly is taking the "Secret Struggles" route, claiming that Heath had been battling an addiction to alcohol and drugs, including cocaine, heroin and "a variety of pills," and that Heath's ex Michelle Williams had begged him to get help. The mag says she even drove him to Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, but Heath refused to get out of the car, making his own promises to Michelle that he would get clean for her and their daughter, Matilda.

Many recent reports say that Heath had gotten sober before his death, and that he was all about spending time with his child and taking his work very seriously.  Hopefully, when the autopsy reports come back, we'll know for sure.

I prefer not to believe these mag's. I'm sure they've only heard these stories from people trying to make money. How would they know Michelle took him to Promises and he wouldn't get out of the car? I wish they would have more respect for little Matilda who I'm sure will be reading these someday.

I agree Scarlet. It makes me angry and sick to know that these people are seeking to make Heath, his family and Michelle hurt more. They are going through enough as it is and they do not need to deal with hate mongers trying to earn an extra buck off of someones misfortune. It sickens me!
I did not know him, but I greatly respected him and Michelles right to want some normalcy for their child and not be in the spot light. Where were all these people who have nasty things to say about Heath prior to his death, HUH WHERE???
I will forever be a fan of his, I have been affected by this as if it were my friend that had passed away, I feel terrible and pray for his family, Matilda, Michelle and all those that knew him and hope that we will be able to have some peace to mourn their loss.
The ledgers, Heath, Matilda and Michelle are in my prayers.

US Mag consistently prints stories just to sell copies. They make up sources and stories all the time. I agree ladies. I'm not inclined to buy or listen to them. Just let him rest in peace, and his family doesn't need their grief added to.

I tend to believe that Heath had an addiction/drug problem. However, if this story is totally untrue, you'd better believe that we will hear a counter story from Michelle. She would know the truth.

Regardless, he was a good man and we will miss him dearly.

WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE GET RID OF LISA? DOESN'T THIS SITE HAVE MODERATORS OR SOMETHING?

As far as Heath Ledger's supposed addiction issues....please remember the source....this is a gossip rag; this is how they sell magazines.....I tend NOT to believe he had addiction issues, especially after listening to the quotes of some of his friends after his tragic death.

IF he did had a drug/alcohol addiction problem...DOES IT REALLY MATTER? We have truly lost a magnificent talent. Pay some respect and stop trying to tarnish his name. May he rest in peace. God Bless Michelle and Matilda during this unfortunate time.

God damn it, why must they do this?

People are mourning him and all the effing tabloids can think of is how much money they can make off of it. It's sick and pathetic.

Every magazine that I see with a cover like this-- I will never buy again.

Tributes are fine. But this is uncalled for.

That magazine sells utter crap. They hold to the notion that the only good news that sells is bad news. Even if they have to make it up. No respect whatsoever, the man hasn't even been dead a month and already people are trashing him. Seriously this is a low point for the media.

I highly doubt that ANY of this is true. I'm sick of these people always making up stories like this one. I don't believe that he was a drug addict. NOR will I EVER believe that he wouldn't have gotten help if his fiancee asked him to if he was a drug addict. I'm sick of these people always assuming. Just wait for the bloody autopsy reports to come back BEFORE you decide anything.

His death is a tragedy. However, every day people are dying that felt it was ok to take prescription drugs because they are "legal". Chemically they have the same molecular structure as cocaine and heroin. As the director of Novus Medical Detox we daily see the ravages of prescription drugs. If we don't wake up we will see many more Heath Ledger's but some of them will be close friends or even members of our families.

Having a drug problem doesn't make you a junkie and having a lot of talent doesn't mean you cannot have a drug problem-Anyone remember River Phoenix, Belushie, Janis Joplin, Jimmie Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, etc.???

Made a statement this is all lies and that so video is out there. Heath wasn't during drugs at aal. Just talk about him smoking weed in the past.
