Jane Fonda Says "C*nt" Live on Today
Um, oops.
Jane Fonda spilled the very taboo c-word (used for a describing a ladies' private area or a nasty way to describe a nasty woman) live on the Today show.
Jane and The Vagina Monologues playwright Eve Ensler were chatting with Meredith Vieira about the well-know work, when Jane just let the "c-word" fly. I'm sure Meredith was dying a little bit inside, but she just rolled with the punches -- until she had to give an apology on the show's behalf.
"We were talking about The Vagina Monologues and Jane Fonda inadvertently said a word from the play that you don't say on television," Mer said after the break. "It was a slip and obviously she apologizes, and so do we. We would do nothing to offend the audience. So please accept that apology."
That Jane -- what a c*nt!
(*Totally kidding -- all in good fun)

That is the funniest thing I've seen in a while.
thanks for the afternoon laugh.

LMAO!!
Now that was funny.
I just couldn't believe it this morning when I heard it. I guess I'm not as liberated as Jane.
It takes one to say one?
Come on!! It was Jane Fonda, what else could you expect???
it's just a word! it only becomes an "issue" because people make it an "issue"
just like every other "taboo" word it has no power on it's own- it's only power is what people "give" it!
She's classless anyway, what did you expect?
And to all you people that say it's not a big deal, it's a slur...betcha you'd have screamed if she'd said the N word, or some other slang for people you don't like. Hypocrites.

God Will Get Ya For "That" One Jane!! (LOL)
Not Surprised - I am NOT a hypocrite in any form. Regardless of your saying so, because I don't think it's a very big deal.
Yes it probably shouldn't have been said on Live TV, (as young children could have been watching) but she was saying it in the slang form for VAGINA (as the interview is about The VAGINA Monologues playwright) she wasn't dissin anyone out! I think you need to re-watch the interview!
Who cares. I saw her profile on R i c h C u p i d s.com last week. It is said she is interested in dating young hot guys on that site.
Not a big deal to me. I do like how JD thinks that Ang having split pants was all PR or done purposely. She doesn't need any extra attention! She gets enough attention from the good that she does. She doesn't need to draw attention to herself.
Why did Jane Fonda call herself a C--- on national TV?

notsurprised~ The N word offends a whole culture of people men, women and children. The C word only offends prissy, stuck up white girls/women that probably are nasty in the first place. There are a long list of C words in the world (Paris, Lindsey, Britney, Kim K) the list goes on and on. It really does take one to know one.
This is a big deal? Another example of who cares? She didn´t use it offensively. It´s just a word unless you make it into something.
There are so many uptight people in the US, it sickens me and I´m American. Why apologize for this or for her? I feel bad for Vieira that she had to say an apology for offending people who probably have never had an orgasm their entire lives.
If people knew what the word actually meant, where it came from, and what the true meaning is...The latin root word, meaning kin, as in family, that is where the word "country" came from. Do your homework people!! It is not a bad word at all. Words are only what you make of them. I swear, if ignorance is bliss, why are we all so unhappy?
On tv today they can advertise male "enhancers" and even warn of "an erection lasting more than blah blah hours".... geez try to explain what THAT means to your 7 year old!
She wasn't calling someone a c*unt. However, I recall in the 70's on SNL an actor's famous lines were "Jane (Curtin), you ridiculous SL*T!" It got roars of laughter and that is a far worse word and circumstance than what Jane Fonda said.
I guess Jane's being sincere and acting normally. No big issue just like we men are called 'pricks' and we accept it as facts of life. Ordinarily, we even use the 'f word' profusely when we explain our daily problems. So I feel Jane is cool to use the 'c-word'. LOL!

Ummmmm ~ that HILARIOUS line from SNL was "Jane, you ignorant slut!!!" It was GREAT then, and still is, and I can't imagine anyone being offended by that! (And I'm pretty much considered quite refined ... even a prude at times!)
As several others have said, everyone needs to just lighten up ... I personally hate the C-word, but I would just gasp and then ignore it. So many more horrible things to worry about in this effed-up world than a stupid crude word. Also, I agree that it's VERY true that so many women who fit the C-word are idolized in this idiotic society.
The thing that makes me sickest every day is all the black people who use the N-word profusely, ad nauseam, also bitch, and would scream, fight, and threaten to kill any other race who uses it ... DISGUSTING.

She doesn't care, remember what she did during Vietnam? So her dropping the C word is nothing.

Speaking as a black american, when the N word is used it is not meant to degrade and insult one another, this word has been used by my culture as a term of endearement. I am sorry but when non blacks use the word it is to degrade, insult and disrespect a black american. I for one will be glad when all these sterotypes are traded in for the character of each individual. I get so disgusted when I log onto blogs and am confronted with so much negative racism. I think what society is most sick of is the sense of entitlement people possess, and forgive us if most of this attitude is carried by caucasians. In each culture there are things that would be the norm, fellow black americans calling one another the N word is one of them. And for the record we say "gga" the ignorant and hateful say "gger" which my fellow blogger is an insult and yes it would get you seriously hurt if said around the wrong people. We are a proud culture and nothing you call us will take that away.
I would rather hear someone call someone a cunt (which Jane was not doing anyway) than to hear someone be so callus and degrading towards someone, by calling them a "N....." just because of them having a different skin colour.
If an African American/Negro or whatever race, wants to call themselves the "N" word, so what, they aren't trying to disrespect each other, as a white person would be doing if he/she said it to them.
