Jessica Alba Whines About Unfair Treatment
Jessica Alba is fighting back against people who criticize her for not being true to her roots. The pregnant star, who is on the cover of the new Latina magazine, is particularly pissed at blogger Perez Hilton, I would imagine, for constantly referring to her as Jessica "Don't Call Me Latina" Alba. The actress admits to never being taught Spanish as a child even though her father is a second-generation Mexican-American, but she is sick of getting picked on!
"No one gives Cameron Diaz a hard time for not speaking Spanish," Jessica pouts to the mag. "Her dad's Cuban, and I was telling her I feel so bad because everyone is so nasty to me for not speaking Spanish. She's like, 'I don't speak Spanish! I barely speak English!'"
Aww, man. Cam took the words right out of my mouth!
Back to Jess, she says she was turned down for a role in a Spike Lee movie because she didn't speak the Spanish, but then the role went to Rosario Dawson who doesn't know her asno from her codo either. 'We're going to hire a Latin girl who can speak Spanish,'" Spike told Jessica, "And then he hired Rosario. What's so funny is that I've worked with Rosario and she's like, I don't speak Spanish.' I was like, 'You don't?' And she was like, 'No!'"
You know what? Waahh, waaah, waah. It must be so hard being you, Jess.

She is so attractive. It's said she has dated a very wealthy businessman on the celebrity and millionaire dating site named "SearchingMillionaire.com".
Not sure if it is true..
Does this ungrateful b@&ch ever stop complaining?
I despise this girl. You know why you got "fired" from that role, Perez makes fun of you and Cameron never gets any crap from anybody? Because you probably acted like a diva on the set, and Cameron doesn't keep opening her big mouth and talking about it! Just shut up!
Even though she wasn't taught Spanish as a child, i reckon she could still learn but is obviously not interested in the language. I would say let her be and enough with the "not speaking spanish" harrassment. She looks good with her baby bump.
I agree that it is her life, and she should be able to speak whatever language she wants. Just because she doesn't speak Latin doesn't mean she doesn't appreciate her heritage. But I think she shouldn't let it get to her, what other ppl say. She just needs to ignore it, unless its something major, then she can whine about it. But this, i think she just needs to get over it, and let it go.
It's not like I agree with complaining, but do we expect all italian-americans, or greek-americans or whatever to speak the language of their fathers? It is a little ridiculous when you think about it, and I must say that when I am pregnant, everything bothers me and gets under my skin WAY more. So in that spirit, I am going to give her a break today.
She's annoying. If she doesn't feel like she's a latina why the hell is she on the cover of the mag? And how can she not expect latina's to react to her lame ass comments.
Get over yourself lady.
yeah no one is mad at her because she can't speak spanish what pissed people off including perez hilton is that she was quoted in the AP and various other sites and mags that she "finally felt she was fixing the family blood and shedding the image of latin american by being a 3rd generation mexican and not even speaking spanish"
So it's not the fact that she can't speak spanish no one gives a rats ass about that it's the fact that she put down an entire latin community by being ashamed of who she is and giving an opportunity to any bigots out there to think it is ok to put us down for being latin, since she herself puts it down as something to be ashamed of and needing to be "fixed"

Thank you LOUD AND PROUD, I knew that people didn't realize the extent of her shame and disdain for her heritage, not that she doesn't speak spanish. I do think it's funny that Perez's original and GIVEN name was Mario! Pot calling the kettle black but I still love me some Perez! I miss the old daily blabber, it was my good time at work. P.S. I had to post this I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES! FRUSTRATING! MY APOLOGIES IF IT SHOWS UP 100 TIMES!
-_- So much emphasis on this "heritage" thing. Too much sometimes. Seriously sometimes I wonder if people are so proud of their heritage, why are they even here? I mean, if you love your heritage that much, you want to ecompass your heritage, live it, breathe it, why not be at the root of it all? I have seen this argument over and over again and it still doesn't make any sense. Having pride is your own heritage is one thing, shoving it down everyone else's throat is another thing entirely. When asked what I am I simply say I am an American Citizen. To the point and done. If she is 3rd generation as it was quoted here, then how praytell do you expect her to be so proud of her heritage that in all aspects she has little to no contact with? To me, I have been here in the states for a majority part of my life, this is my heritage, this is my life. Do I recognize my parents origins, of course, they helped mold my character, but I will not say that I am from that heritage... I wasn't there. That wasn't me, that was my parents. Remember people, home, is where the heart is.
And as for Spike Lee, he is very biased, and he has never apologized for it, not that he has to, its his movie. But if in reality if the role did need a "Spanish" speaker then she can't/shouldn't complain. But if the second choice doesn't speak Spanish, then Spike Lee is nothing but a hypocrite.

I'm french, indian, german...I don't speak any of those languages! is that denying my heritage?
Give her a freakin break people...she's down-to-earth, classy and very grounded compared to the usual Hollywood crowd...you don't see her skankin' it up at night clubs pretending to not want the attention but actually begging for attention like Britney, Lindsay and many others...She's a breath of fresh air...a beautiful person inside and out...leave her the f**k alone!!! Geez
she was turned down the role in spike lee's movie NOT because she can't speak spanish---the way i see it, spike just used that as a good excuse NOT TO HIRE a bad actress. and that's what jessica alba is. a bad actress. beautiful but not talented. rosario dawson is not attractive as her, but she's got range as an actress. so who cares if she can't speak spanish---she's got to earn the role. and i really think she's big headed with the things she says sometimes. truthfully, i'd like to hear less about her.
All I will say is, I am soooo happy Rosario got the role, I love 25th hour, if Jessica was in the movie, not so much!
eow po add mi po at tesri naman po
Yo... THe whole reason she wasn't the right part is that Rosario dawson looks a shitload more spanish than Jessica Whiny whine Alba.
I mean compare her in Fantastic Four to Honey???
I'm welsh and she almost has my skin tone.
Actually now I'm on that thread it's funny what you can get away with as being 'black' these days... It's an insult to the genuine BLACK people. tsk
I think people should leave her the hell alone. If she feels like saying she is French or Welsh or whatever it may be , who the hell are you to tell her otherwise. I am half spanish and half German. I don't speak spanish and I say I am German. Why? because I feel like it. I identify more with my German heritage than my spanish one. And no one has any right to denouce me for it. If Jessica does not want to be called Latina, just respect it. And the only reason why no one gives Cameron Diaz any shit about it , its because she is more "american" looking. So she have the right to be called "white" while Jessica has to be called latina? It is simply ridiculous.
Okay... let's see. I'm going to write it in english. People: are you reading your comments? (especially Jen and some others). I've reached the conclusion that the average american is very confused about what is the meaning of latino/latina. Dark skin? moustache? black hair? black eyes? indian features?... that is the stereotype that your teachers in school are teaching...WRONG!!. F.Y.I. in Latin America... from Mexico to Argentina there are lots of white people like Cameron Díaz, blue-eyed, green-eyed, blond, brunette and we also have asian people with surnames like Rodríguez, Gonzalez... there are also black people and there are also people with german surnames, jewish surnames, arab surnames, japanese surnames and they considered themselves as "latino" with german, japanese, arab, indian, french, english, czech, jewish, african, chinese or american (yes, from the U.S.A.) roots, okay?. Half of these people are able to speak more than one language, but the other half only speak spanish... it is the same case as young Alba. It depends on the place you were raised (friends, foods, music, culture, etc) and also if your parents were able to keep their roots always present at home. That's all I have to say.
Jessica alba ..how is she third generation? Or mother is white and her father is full mexican. She even carries the spanish last name and looks.
Its not the fact that she can't speak spanish..thats understandable because she was raised in America by a white mother and a white wash father. It's also understandable that she lost some of her roots. But what is not acceptable is that in some magazines she bashed the latin heritage when she was called latin, whats that about? Pretty lame and imature of her if you ask me.
Now shes trying to cover up for what she said and is blaming it all on Perez..which by the way i think is annoying.
She should just own up to her own quotes..instead of mixing up her own words..and then playing the innocent role and complaining about it. Other then that Jessica is awesome.
But she is the only Latin person that fell to shame...for that. Every other latina or latino is America shows their pride for their roots even if they can't speak the language or know much about it..its still in the blood. Like America Ferrah is a great example she behaves very proudly and mature. Salma hayek, Shakira, Eva Longoria Ect...
I mean if JLO admitted to barley being able to speak her language...she was raised in NY and knows almost nothin about her latin heritage..but she still stands proud and never bashes her own blood...Lame on jessica's part. Whats done is done. She has some issues with her self..that she needs to fix on her own..but she doesnt have to blame the latin community or Perez.
