I think they're setting a great example of how people with money and power should use what they've been given. Their goods deeds can't be denied, but it's sad no matter what they do there are still going to be people that bash them LuvMyJolie. Bill and Melinda Gates was reported as having given $36 billion dollars to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Do you:

(a) think that they spent all 36 billion dollars in one go?

(b) think they didn't actually give it to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation because they control the foundation (yes, they do, really).

Angelina and Brad gave 8.6 million dollars to the Jolie Pitt foundation using the SAME tax laws and deductions and under the SAME legal constraints (subject only to variations in State Laws) as Bill and Melinda Gates gave to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. And like the bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Jolie Pitt foundation too didn't give it all away in one go. No Foundation does. Some foundations such as the Ford Foundation or the Rockefeller Trust or the Packard Trust have been around for years and years. Warren Buffet is giving away over 35 billion dollars worth of Berkshire hathaway stocks to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. But Warren Buffet certainly doesn't expect to be giving the whole 35 billion dollars all away in one go.

You know, you don't have to LIKE Angelina and Brad. That simply isn't important at all. Thye don't know you from a bar of soap and the truth is, despite all the interviews and tabloid "reports" you don't know them at all.

However if you misrepresent how donations and charitable foundations work then you might be doing charities and people in need a disservice. If you don't know, then google. If you do know and wish to delibrately misrepresent how charitable donations are always reported and always spent, and which may ultimately affect the lives of needy people because you dislike Brad and Angelina, that makes you a PETTY little beast.

That was back in "2006" when they were trying to get their "reputations" back from the "torrid affair" they had that caused them to "fall" from "celebrity grace"...It was all "PR", not from the "heart"...They are too "transparent"... They had to do something to get people to "forgive" them for their many, many "lies"...This is "2008", and they still don't have their "popularity" back...Guess the "lookie me we gave money" PR stunt didn't quite work out as they expected...LOL...They really thought that by giving money, and then "screaming" it from the roof-tops "each" and "everytime" they donated it that it would change the "awful" people they are, and the "terrible" things they did...Nothing has changed except they are still "losing" their "popularity" at a fast pace...They will never recover from this, and as their biggest fan, I could not be "happier"...

People just don't want to admit that most everyone wants to get rich fast. And that is what is ruining our economy. Realstate at one point meant you got to own your home. And with that as collaterol you could afford a vacation using a bank loan. Now what it means its an object to make yourself rich faster. Say X person buys a home at 10, but then sells it to Z for 20, making 10 profit. But guess what? Z then wants to make profit and it sell is 40 to Y. But then Y wants to make profit and sells it for 80... see the problem? All of them... just want to make quick money. Multiply that to hundreds of thousand people doing that, skyrocketing the price of the property in hopes to make fast and easy cash... to the point that no one can possibly afford the home anymore... and the last one stuck with it will lose the home to the banks whome loaned out all the money... and then the banks are stuck with property losing money on it. Why? Because everyone just wants the easy dollar, they may say they care about the economy, but only when it affects them.

This is a problem of everyone. The instant gratification generation is what is pulling us down.

Charity begins at home, do something nice and positive for those around you and start from there and THEN perhaps have some foundation for your name calling of others. It is simply off putting to read you insulting others like that and expect your post to be taking seriously and that you actually care about other human beings on the planet.

Just an F.Y.I. - I believe that the ability to express ourselves and our opinions are what makes this country so great. But I have to ask, JD, have you ever met Mr. or Mrs. Pitt? The reason being, I have. I actually had the opportunity to speak with both of them on several occations, involving their charity work. Although, I agree with a lot of your ideas on a much more macro scale, I think you have failed to take in a more individual perspective on the matter. There are many high powered and affluent people who are out for nothing but control and the amount of wealth they can contain, but just because someone was lucky enough or worked hard enough to gain the title of multi-millionaire does not mean they are evil or the spawn of Lucifer himself as you have made them out to be. This particular couple I have found in my deals with them, are two of the most caring, concerned and thoughtful people I have ever met. Yes, you are correct, when you said that they will be getting a heafty tax deduction for all of their contributions. They know this, and would be fools not to take advantage of such. But to think or imply they do all of this, merely for that or for any malicious reason is in general a very pessimistic and narrow minded veiw point. I understand your anger and frustration on our current economic situation in this country and you are right in saying something needs to be done about it because we can not go on like this. But to focus your energies on such a specific avenue, I feel like your intellegence and gift of articulation is being aimed in the wrong direction.

ME, I don't know the Jolie-Pitts, but I agree with the viewpoints you articulated. I also agree with JD that celebrities, whether sports figures, performers, etc. are outrageously overpaid, whereas arts in public schools are notoriously underfunded.
I actually have no problem with rich people having planes, but for an actor to have a FLEET of planes when there are people in THIS (USA) country who don't have indoor plumbing?! What's wrong with this picture?

I would like you to know, that even though JD does not know me, he offered to help me out financially, for a medical procedure for my blind baby. This was not through me asking, it was through other people making comments on a previous blog. There was also another person that JD offered to help out in the past too (although I never saw these postings, I have been led to believe that it was a single mother), what happened there I do not know. BUT I know that he still offered to help me out financially. Even though I did decline this offer, the fact still remains, HE DID OFFER!!!

Yep, they give half of what they say they will give, and then use the rest as a tax write off and for publicity. They are a disgrace to humanity and to their children. Selling pictures of your baby so fans that have made them millions of dollars is a slap in the face. They should have been more than happy to let the fans that have stood behind them for years to see those pictures, not wait for the highest bid. That is why so many people think they are the trashiest couple in Hell-A. It is a shame that they are having more bio children together. I am amazed at how naive you people are. This is still about Brad and Angelina's affair. This is the second time they have released this info to the press. How did their personal tax info from two years ago make it into the press? That was in "2006". They have already bragged about this money, why are they using this stunt again? Because they have not been able to place themselves back into the celebrity limelight and it is killing Angelina. They are desperate now. Brad just hangs on for the ride. Angelina blames Jennifer Aniston for it all to this day. The money they received from the Shiloh pics was given to Nambia for the inconvenience they caused while in that country.
