Hospital Workers Canned for Snooping on Britney

britneybustup.JPG
I hope the lives of the nosy workers over at UCLA Medical Center are enriched by the info they found on Britney Spears, while digging through her confidential medical records.

According to the Los Angeles Times, at least 13 employees of the hospital are getting fired for allegedly looking through Britney's medical records, when she was admitted to the psychiatric ward earlier this year. Though the paper says there is no evidence yet that any of the workers leaked or sold the information, um, of course they did.

And if they didn't then, they certainly will now that they ain't got a job.

They can not sell the information, as third parties could end up in jail, and Britney Spears would own their homes and kids with a massive lawsuit.

Serves them "right"! I hope she "sues" the piss out of the hospital...Medical care "sucks" these days...The medical profession think they can do anything they want because they are "doctors" or "nurses" that went to "school" for a long time (whoopdie friggin doo) to be where they are...They are all still here to provide us with a "service", and part of that service is to keep their "big fat traps" shut...Not the other way around...

Blog Brat- I can only assume that given your (ignorant) opinion that you will NEVER call a doctor or hospital for help ever in your life when you are ill or in an accident!

And if you do end up there (against your will) that you will NEVER buzz the nurse for help!

You are just like people who complain about the cops....yet who do they call when they need help.....hmmmm

I hear you and agree wholeheartedly. It always amazes me when some people feel they can mouth off about stuff they know absolutely nothing about!

Nurses have one of the most important roles in healthcare and it is one we take very seriously.

Judging by the amount of call bells I answer in one shift alone, I would say most people do not have a problem calling us when they need kind and skilled nursing care.

Nurse B said:

Confidentiality is a huge part of the nurse's and Drs jobs.

Yes if it is proven that a breach of confidentiality has happened in relation to Britney's personal health information, then that is against the law, and all medical staff involved could then lose their licenses to practice, and be subject to a huge lawsuit.

However to paint all nurse's and Drs with the same brush is very unfair.

My colleagues and myself wouldn't dream of discussing private information on a patient, unless all are directly involved in the patients care. In this case the discussion would be to help the patient and to plan the best care possible. Even so this discussion would remain completely confidential to all parties involved.

Whooptie do that some us do use our years of schooling wisely and whooptie do that we have people willing to work hard to be prepared to serve the public. That includes cops and firefighters and all the servants of the public that do their jobs to the best of their ability and respect privacy as they do so.

They are very special people.

I saw no mention in the article that the "staff" involved in this were nurse's or Drs.

A hospital has more support staff than medical staff, so this could have been anyone in any dept, so having said that, maybe it would be less offensive to first research what is going on before judging. Just a suggestion. Your lack of education is showing otherwise.

I can understand how you would offend someone in the Medical Field, BlogBrat. Someone needs to talk to you about stereotyping. There are alot of bad people in this world, but they have alot of different professions!
As for the staff who did the snooping..shame on them. Some people will step on there mother to get to the cash.

Bella said:

Oh and I'd just like to say, Nurse B, you made a good point that the article did not say the position of the employees who were snooping. They could have been admin or even a Janitor...regardless, BlogBrat, you are putting done people who are vital to the medical field and the publics well being.

"BlogBrat" said:

a Nurse, yes "unfortunately" I have had the pleasure of being under "hospital" care by "angry", "nasty" people just like you that call themselves "nurses"...I almost died once because a "nurse" did not read my chart and gave me "codine" when I am "allergic" to it...She never "bothered" to read my chart before giving it to me, and when I asked what she was giving me, she looked at me like "how dare she", and didn't tell me, or the other hospital staff until I was already suffering from the "reaction"...It was in big "BOLD" letters that I was "allergic" to "codine", and the doctor never ordered it..."Needless" to say she no longer works in the "medical field", and I won a nice lawsuit...You seem to me to be one of those "careless", "angry", "bitchy" nurses that most people have to deal with when hospitalized...Go to hell BITCH!!!!!

Bella said:

So you had one bad experience and now you assume every nurse you come across wants to kill you? Why are you so hostile and what drugs are you currently on? Calm down..I sure hope you trust a Psychologist, LMAO.

The medical profession are a bunch of careless morons. They are no more interested in the care of a patient than a man in the moon. What ever these schools are turning out now should be ashamed. There are some terrible medical mistakes made by so called dr's and nurses. I hope they all go to hell. Nurse B if you are actually a real live nurse, then you just proved my point. You are all a careless , creepy bunch of freaks. That's all I have to say about the medical profession. Good luck if you go into a hospital, make sure you have things in order.

March said:

I agree with you Mrs. North, When you go into a hospital, if you think you are in bad shape before you check in, just wait until you have to trust someone to take proper care of you. Most of them don't have the good sense God gave a goat. I heard on CNN just this morning that the medical mistakes just keep getting higher and higher. Example Dennis Quaid's beautiful little twin babies. They are lucky to be alive. Thanks to some nurse that didn't know what she was doing. Just think of all the terrible mistakes we don't hear about.

Nurse B said:

Blogbrat-

I have to say that you need to take responsibility for your health. If the nurse you mentioned refused to tell you what the medication was you should have refused to take it.
You had the right to ask to SEE the Drs order for it.
At that point you would have seen that there was no order for Codeine and she should have been reported to the person in charge of your unit immediately. If what you claim is true, then where did the nurse even get the codeine? Hospital pharmacy only prepares the medications ordered by the Dr. Something about your story just doesn't add up. Sorry. In my opinion:
These supporting comments following your nasty rants are a sad attempt at damage control for your previous remarks.

Penny Pointdexter said:

I agree with the about comments. The nursing profession is not what it use to be. They just don't seem to care about the welfare of their patients at all. I hear of very bad mistakes made by nurses and doctor's all the time. People's lives are in their hands and they just don't seem to give a sh*t about anything but the paycheck they pick up. Some people are in no condition to take responsibility for their care and have no one to help them. But if you think a nurse or a doctor cares think again. Some people analyze too much. No one needs damage control, just plain truth. It's people like Nurse B that gives the profession a very bad name. Sorry. In my opinion.

I must tell you Missy Nurse B, with the nasty attitude you have, I sure would't want you in my room taking care of me. You won't even let the bloggers on here have their own opinions without giving some of that attitude. I would hate to see the medication you pass around. I bet you keep all the good stuff for yourself. Is there any wonder why nurses have a bad name now.

Nurse B said:

Do all these bloggers agree that nurse's have a bad name?
I have the right to my own opinion as well. I can't say I like your attitude much. We are done discussing this.
Let the others have a chance here then. I know you are the same person defending yourself.
Maybe there are other less extreme opinions out there on this topic and if so would like to hear from them.
Everyone out there hate nurses? Anyone have a good experience with one? Input appreciated.

OK gals lets give this one to Nurse B. She seems to be getting upset about our comments. We don't want her going in a patients room with that attitude. Go ahead Nurse B put all the good comments you can on here, we know the drill. We will let you have this one. Nighty Nite Nursey B.

I once had a good one. There was this mean old bat of a nurse. She came into my room and gave me an enema. I ended up crapping all over her. She ran out crying. Never to return. Made my day.

Brenda said:

I personally think the medical profession sucks. When they make a mistake(and it's often) it's a big big mistake. People die from their stupidity. I agree with the blogger that mentioned Quaid's twins. That was just simple neglect and stupidity on the part of a so called professional.

Meg said:

Nurses B, good job keeping your comments reasonable. People like to get under others' skin here. I've had far more great medical experiences than I've had poor ones. Unfortunately, the cases of medicine gone terribly wrong are the ones that get most of the attention, with the day-to-day triumphs looked over. With people going to the doctor far more often than in years past, the number of mishaps is going to increase; the rate of mishaps has not increased. You do an important job in a field that requires dealing with difficult situations and difficult people. Kudos.

I agree Meg, "people" here do get under others skin. Unfortunatey "they" are dillusional, with the gang up mentality. Next time maybe try a little harder to invent more believable allias's.
Blogbrat is at it again. She has many opinions on a lot of topics here, none of them kind, none of them good.
She has a merry band of followers ( one anyway) who are willing to fake blog to add to her list of supporters.
These "people" are bad new, no one can talk to them on here without them trying to run them off if they disagree with any shit they may say.
Just sayin.

Jeni said:

Nurse B- I'm sorry that you have to listen to the rantings of a damn maniac on here. It's quite obvious that the same delusional "girl" is adding all the derogatory blogs. Take heart in the fact that there are a few people with enough brain cells left to see through her charade. Granted I have run across some nurses with a not so great bed side manner. But to lump them all together as a whole is wrong. I, along with members of my family, have been treated in emergency rooms, outpatient surgery, hospice, heart centers, etc and have come across some of the most caring warm individuals that I will ever meet in my lifetime. When my aunt was dying of cancer a hospice nurse came to our home every evening and she went WAY above and beyond making sure that my aunt was comfortable and taken care of in her last days. I have three children and when I was in the hospital I was so impressed by the care I received that I to this day go back and visit with the nurses that took care of me and send them cards and pictures of my children. Thank you for your service and all you do. Since "blogbrat" so obviously is above the medical profession I hope she never darkens your door and instead sits at home and suffers all alone as she so obviously deserves.

Nurse B said:

Thank you Jeni:
That was a heartwarming comment. I wish you and your family well, and appreciate your positive attitude.
Also, yes I know there are some Nurse's and Drs with a not so great bedside manner with out a doubt.

Do no harm is the minimum expected of these people as well.
I think with the nursing shortages, and long shifts and overtime some nursing staff endure, if they are human and get a little cranky from lack of sleep maybe that should be looked at too. Nurses also can take a lot of abuse from patients and families who are angry, afraid, and trying to lay blame at a time of crisis. We do this because we want to make a difference. The pay is not that great compared to a lot of people who put out less of themselves on a daily basis. weekends and holidays and nights and evenings away from family included.

So when someone says thank you for all you that you do, it means a lot. Sincerely it does.
Let's all try to thank one another more and be gentle, life is fragile, we should cherish it and each other.

While I agree that healthcare isnt what it used to be and that people should take their own health into their hands instead of placing their lives in the hands of very busy doctors, I have to say that if youre concerned that youre not getting the care you deserve (and are paying for if youre not on welfare!), there are social workers, charge nurses and other staff you can request to speak with. Another thing to remember is there is way to much support staff and not enough medical workers! They are overworked to say the least. As a medical professional who's not a nurse, I have spent many hours just helping them answer lights, making beds, getting cups of coffee, etc. Not every medical person is in it for the money...most care. Shame on the ones who dont. So if you feel so strongly about getting shotty care, dont go to the hospital to get help. Take care yourself!

Nurse L said:

After reading all the negative, angry comments made by non medical people, I just have to say to them...if you think you can do it better and are so perfect and NEVER make mistakes. GO FOR IT! Not all of us have nasty attitudes and not all of us are dumb as you say. Some of us have gone to college not just to better ourselves, but to actually help people who want it. Im sure you could deliver your own baby or perform you own heart surgery.

My brother works in a large hospital that treats drug addiction and mental illness, mostly alcohol addiction, has been a counselor for over twenty years. The hospitals now admits a troubled patient with instructions to do basic maintnance within a minamal amount of time and release the patient after they are stabilized, per the insurance companies refusal to pay extended treatment. Therapiest have lost most of there hours and the counseling has been given to nurses who have very little training in therapy. The nurse is than paid twice the salary that a therapiest gets for basic counseling. The patint is than released back into society with the problem still remaining, a victum of a corrupt system. ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES CAN SAVE, the hell with the patient.

Anonymous said:

Dr
I think you are on the mark with the medical/nursing cutbacks and increased patient load/acuity. In the US the insurance companies are a major contributer to hospitals being overcrowded and understaffed, unqualified personel doing tasks they are untrained for, and lets not forget privitization of patient care services and contracting out to the large corporations. The nursing staff have no say in any of this. The patient suffers, as always. The nurse's are overburdened ( taking on even more tasks ).
Corporate health care for profit, is the worst disaster that patients/care staff have to contend with. The cutting back of essential service is not only disgraceful,I think there should be criminal charges laid for each and every mistake due to same.Superbugs? Lack of proper housekeeping service.
Think about it.

nurse L said:

you are absolutely right anonymous about health care staff cutbacks while the corporate health care companies rake in the profits. there are not enough nurses for the patient load. my sister in law is legal representation for those companies and it is her job to go after more money from those who carry the insurance. the president of her company made over 100M. the insurance companies dictate to us how long patients can stay in the hospital. the doctors hands are tied. ive seen many people leave the hospital to soon. it should be illegal for health care officials to make that kind of money.

You are so right. Unfortunate but true. I hope someday this will be different, patients will come first, and in order to do that the nurse's and medical staff need encouragement not abuse. I suppose until then and at present, Nurse's will continue to do the best they can with what they have got.

Thank you for speaking up on this topic. It is an important one.
