Mel Gibson & Britney Spears: Seeing Each Other "Regularly"

melgibsonbrit.jpgbritneymel1.jpg

So, Britney Spears' dinner out with Mel Gibson on Saturday night wasn't her first! A source for People.com says that Brit and Mel have had a number of pow-wows since the pop star has been out of the hospital.

Get your minds out of the gutter -- the source says that Mel's wife has played a big part in the new friendship, as well.

"Mel and his wife Robin clearly saw a woman in crisis and wanted to extend themselves in any way possible," said the insider. "There's just a handful of people in the world who understand the kind of intense attention that Britney goes through, and how to raise a family with some semblance of privacy and how to keep one's family intact and out of the limelight."

I guess that's nice -- it just seems weird.

"There are no expectations, there is no agenda," the spy insisted. "It's simply an act of human kindness – one neighbor reaching out to the other."

I just never thought of Mel Gibson as the "doing it out of the goodness of his heart" type of guy.

I wonder if he'd be so kind if Britney were Jewish. Still think he's a bastard.

I think he's human and screwed up like the rest of us, only his gets broadcast and remembered forever.. how unforgiving of a nation are we!?

Trouble with forgiveness is that it is a little different to compare an impulsive drunken remark to an epic movie taking a long and thoughtful time to make. I think he has spread the belief that Jews were responsible for the death of Christ. Christ was a Jew. Lest we forget.
I am not Jewish, but I have nothing but admiration for a very strong and resilient people. Of all the worlds religions, Jewish people have been seriously persecuted.
It is they that should do the forgiving. I doubt that it will or should be forgotten though.

I am not against Jewish community. But I remember an old Japanese proverb "The nail that sticks out further, gets hammered first" comes to mind.

I am so tired hearing about jews being stepped on, How about the American Indian, the Asian, African here as an american and even on their own continent. So if we were to start praying for relief and restitution, who gets the first prize. We must try to remember that we are all equal in the eyes of the Supreme One

Why they gotta put pow-wows? What's the problem with Native American people? You like to joke about our traditions and customs? It just seems f*cked up to me people still are that ignorant these days and gotta hate on us still.

Good for Mel and his wifey for being such good-hearted peeps.

I did read the article. My point was, do you think Mel is a good choice to influence a mixed up young woman? Would you let a racist teacher teach your children?

Also to recap what you said, Mel and his wife have taken the time to help someone and etc.

Why? Did she call him? Just like she called Dr Phil?

For heavens sake, the girl can afford the best therapists in the land. Her choice of advisors has not been that good for her so far.

Sorry don't like Mel and what he stands for. Just my opinion.

Britney needs have a chance at a real life. Mel go home.

As for your point. My answer is yes, I do think that Mel is a very good choice to influence Britney. AS YOU SAID,Her choices of advisors thus far have NOT been that good for her.
Considering that Dr. Phil is a doctor in this field and failed then I guess you answered your own question. The money didn't help!!!
Perhaps its time for a little DEVINE intervention. And who better to help one of GOD's people than one who believes strongly in his FAITH!!!
Racist....I don't think so.
Mel is a man who believe's strongly in his religion.
That takes a very strong man and may I say, there are many of us that stand with him.
Anonymous, I repeat to say, although you are entitled to your opinion you should search yourself because YOU are the one that is being racist!!!
Mel GOD BLESS you and your family, we are very PROUD of you.
I know that Britney is in good hands.
Anonymous, GO WITH GOD!!!

I did not mean to offend you. I do believe in God, I am a very spiritual person. I just don't believe that Jesus the amazing teacher WAS GOD. Part of God yes, the one and only God nope. Too many good people on the planet would be excluded from Heaven if the prerequisite was to accept Jesus as your savior. This is not to say I don't respect Christians if they are good people.I do, but I also respect
Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims who are good people. Just makes sense to me.
Mel to me abused a position of power. Unfortunate for the Catholic faith just as a fair number of Priests have done as well. I think that sect of Religion needs to be re thought, it doesn't work that well in this day and age. Let the priests marry. It would be better than having so many of them go insane on so many kids and aboriginals put in their "Care". I don't think that is racist, but maybe I am wrong. It is not like it was one isolated incident...it was a freaking epidemic of child abuse.

God would not condone such a cult perversion.

Again, you are entitled to your opinion.
But what kind of spiritual being are you if you have NO forgiveness or compassion? You claim to repect all religions yet have NO respect for the individual in their representation of their faith. This is a contradiction!!!
It is also unfortunate for the Jewish faith when the same epidemic occured by a number of Rabbi's as well. and guess what??? THEY WERE MARRIED!!!!! Perhaps you missed that one. Or the Rabbi that murdered his wife for her life insurance policy....
GOD would also not condone this same perversion or marital tragedy.
You speak of how the Catholic Faith needs a change..How do you know???
DO you draw such a conclusion from your own experience???
I not only repect all religions but I respect the individual in how they practice their faith.
If you respect all religions as you say then why do you care so much about what WE believe Jesus Christ is???
And just to set you straight, Jesus Christ is the SON OF GOD.
Your facts couldn't be more wrong.
Research!
Would you tell a Muslim who and what to believe in or perhaps how they need to CHANGE the history of their religion because it just does not work in this day and age?
How about the Amish or the Buddhists or the Jews or the African American or any other religion???
Would you???
Because I would like to be there when you do just to see the outcome.
Abusing power. again that's your opinion.

Thanks for being concerned. But I am not offended. Just wanted to tell you that you need to do some research before you can have an opinion. Know the real facts before you comment and attempt to challenge a religion that you know nothing about.
You came equipped with nothing more than anger and hate, insulted every religion you claim to have repect for and none of this had anything to do with the initial article....
Define...Spiritual Person...

Anonymous said:

Did I insult every religion? I don't think so.

I am not impressed with some members of the Muslim faith either. Won't go there though.

The topic was Mel and his wife coming to the aid of Britney.

God help us. Keep your faith and I will keep mine. I will not go to war over it that is for sure.

Just because Mel happens to be Catholic you defend him blindly? Yeah right, just like the priest/teachers were above the law of the land. Just like the nuns who taught in Catholic schools were not violent and judgemental.

My father is Catholic, I am not. I have made my choice, and no would rather not define my spiritual beliefs, they just are.

There are evil people in all cultures and faiths probably, but man the Catholics have been especially messed up throughout history. Sorry, just my humble opinion and if you want factual reporting look it up.

Check out what the residential schools did to the aboriginal culture for at least an entire generation. They displaced them and caused them lifelong shame for not being Catholic.

Screw them, and their dark hidden creepy history of treatment of others.

My husband was a blond alter boy in the Catholic church, his parents trusted the priest so blindly they let him sleep over at the Fathers house. It didn't go well.

So call in a Catholic to advise a misguided young person?

I don't think so. Until they open up the darkness and let in the air and light, and realize they have some serious fixing and re-building of trust to do, well, God will be the judge won't he?

That is all I have to say about that. So don't try to convert me sister, I would rather not go there.

May my perception of a compassionate and loving God, bless us both and help us understand how to learn from the past mistakes of all religions.

Anonymous said:

When I mentioned the lifelong shame taught to aboriginals in Catholic residential schools, I did not mention the abuse of power there did I?

Physical abuse, mental and emotional abuse, deprivation of medical care and nutrition...

Won't be seeking out a Catholic teacher any time soon.

Nope.

P.S.

SEXUAL ABUSE in residential schools has lead to an epidemic of alcoholism, drug addiction and fractured families, the aboriginal leaders are still trying to heal and forgive.

I will forgive when I see the cycle broken, the bad priests and nuns held accountable, and then protective policies put in place for prevention.First a person must demonstrate they have not only learned from history, but made CHANGES to ensure this can not happen again.

Financial settlements are not buying forgiveness in so many hearts. True understanding of HOW THIS WAS ALLOWED to happen is a start. THEN A NEW DAY CAN DAWN.

CHANGE must happen in the Catholic church, if it is to survive.

Radical Muslims must have enough food for their children before they are brainwashed as a way to survive.

I would probably blow up Bush if it ensured the survival of everything dear to me too.

I think you would too, but just maybe would not admit it...

Well I for one don't like Mel Gibson either. How this got into a religious argument I don't know, but people you need to agree to disagree! I too think Mel should go home and leave the counselling to the professionals. Dr Phil apparently was not invited by Britney, good thing as he was all set to exploit her private suffering.
Mel being there at all seems very weird to me too.

I have followed the news about Mel Gibson and Britney Spears because I have great sympathy for people in the limelight. I prayed for Mel Gibson because I know that a person under the influence does not say what they really think...they say things and act in a way that is in no way representative of what kind of person they truly are. His movie, The Passion of Christ, had him play the part of the person that nailed the LORD to the cross. That the Jewish establishment, the mixed crowds and Romans took part in the Crucifixion is history. I pray that everyone...Christians, Jews and Muslims... can find peace. It has broke my heart to see the pain and sorrow in Ms. Spears face as she tried to find some privacy. Mr. Gibson might be in AA and AA teaches you to reach out to others and in this service help heal themselves and the others. I hope they keep meeting and care less what ANYONE ELSE thinks!

I see us all as being Created from the same being. So why do we all have to bicker about race, nationality, origin. In the end we are all the same...mixed! If you go back through centuries there is not a one that is just white or black or whatever you may be. How about we just help each other out and put some compassion in our lives for our fellow Americans. Its a "Chain of Love" I am Native American and I am so tired of the race card and everybody saying that they are owed anything. If we weren't the ones that did it then you are not owed anything!
