Liked the drinking joke Tracy! I know she is catching a lot of crap for being pregnant but at least she owned up to it instead of just running off to get an abortion which she could have easily done. I think she's brave and will never regret doing this. God bless her and her baby.

Oh, Lordy. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why people think that getting married because you're having a baby is such a fabulous idea. It almost always ends in disaster, esp. at this young age. If they weren't interested/ready for marriage before, they aren't now. There's no need to go from the frying pan to the fire. This just serves as a prime example for why kids should not be having sex. I know there's really no way to stop it, I'm just saying.

I agree that marrying bc of pregnancy is not the best idea IF that's the only reason. Although, some people actually do want to marry for reasons other than their child..My bf and I had a baby and soon after got engaged. People may assume it's bc we had a child, but the truth is that we want to spend our lives together.
Now, as for their age..they should probably wait a few more years. She needs to see if the grown up JL will love him like the 16 year old JL does..seriously. I know I was in a totally different mindset when I was that age.

No, he should not be in jail. She was more than willing to get on her back (and whatever else) for him so no crime has been committed. It makes me so mad when parents or anyone else try to put an 18 or 19 year old boy in jail for having sex with some fast 16 or 17 year old. Let's face it, they're teenagers having a relationship, or just plain old no strings attached sex. There's no crime being committed. The parent is just angry that their little princess can't keep her skirt down and they want to punish the boy. Please. Blame her for being so hot in the pants (as my grandmother used to say)and yourselves for not raising her any better.

Karen, people have given up on him being charged for statutory a long time ago. I'm just as pissed about him getting special treatment as you, believe me. My dad works with sex offenders and though it's consensual sex, an illegal act is STILL an illegal act no matter who you are. So yes prettyinpink, he should be in jail.

the father isn't in jail because satuatory rape laws vary from state to state. its unclear if the sex happened in louisiana, california, or some other state (and they could have had sex only once).

as for the marriage, god. she's 16!!!!!! 16. the age most kids get stressed about driving, school, the usual stuff. not whether to go with crab cakes or caviar or what color theme there should be for a wedding!
