Why Justin Chambers Checked Into the Psych Ward
Justin Chambers is opening up to People magazine about the sleep disorder that had him checking into the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center in January.
"It's an issue that I've had for a while," the Grey's Anatomy star told the mag. "It's a biological sleep disorder. Your mind keeps racing, and your body is tired. It wants to go to sleep, but it can't."
In addition to the disorder, Justin chases around the five kids he has with his wife Keisha. That in itself could send to the psych ward. Just kidding, anyway, the actor says that the two months prior to his hospital stay were just torture, and that he was sleeping no more than an hour a week (what?!).
"I got to my wit's end," he says.
An hour a week? Is that possible? I'd die.

Perez also put on his site that he was acting all weirded out at a restaurant or something and was hitting on a waitress and everything. He needs help before he ends up like Heath.
One of my cousin's has a sleep disorder and it can get very bad. I'm glad Justin got the help he did. Just goes to show, every celeb that checks into a facility isn't battling an addiction.
I've had horrible, horrible sleep issues. I feel bad for Justin. I like Perez but I'd take what he says with a grain of salt, but if it's true, I'm sure sleep deprivation can drive you to do things you wouldn't normally do. It's like being a drunk. Keeping good thoughts for Justin and his family.
Sleep disorders can drive you stark raving mad. Don't forget that sleep deprivation is used in wars to get enemy captives to "crack"...Your body and mind MUST have regular sleep...that is why taking things to keep you awake for exams and whatever are not good for you. Even too much caffeine can cause adrenal failure. Since the adrenal gland keeps all other systems in the body working...it is not something you want to have fail. Do a google search to find out more about your adrenal gland and adrenal failure...for your own good. No one even in the health care field pays much attention to this very important gland...and when diagnosing will look for every other disease and condition that mimics adrenal failure.
Some of the modern antidepressants can cause people to go without sleep for days and nights at a time.
In my mother's time when giving advice they said "Word to the wise"
About 25? years ago they said "Word up."
I have no idea what people say now...but please hear what I say.
Can't he take some type of sleep aid?? Would that help?
