Inside Suri Cruise's Fancy Birthday Bash

suribirthday.jpgSuri Cruise
turned the big 2 on April 18, and that girl partied like it was 1999.

Suri's parents, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes went all out for their baby's b-day, reportedly spending over $100,000 on an afternoon party for family and friends.

So, what does that kind of money buy a kid who was born in 2006? A butterfly-themed bash for Suri, who loves the little buggers, at a private home in the Hollywood Hills adorned with $17,000 in fresh flowers. Also on hand: $5000 worth of cakes from LA's Sweet Lady Jane bakery -- every guest get their own personalized cake -- the birthday cake, which was four-tiered with white buttercream icing and -- you guessed it -- sugar-paste bumblebees and butterflies! And for mama Katie, who is a cupcake-loving fool, $230 worth of cupcakes from LA bakery Sprinkles.

In related news, Suri hasn't slept in 5 days.

"It was a great party," one attendee said. "Suri was in a really great mood and loved having all the balloons around.”

Um, my son's party at Party Gym was really good, too. We gave out candy bags.

$17,000 for flowers, maybe they should take $15,000 and helped feed children in their area that went to bed hungry last night. It's their money and they can do what they want with it but a $100,000 dollar birthday party for a two year old is insane. Thats why normal families can no longer afford to take a family of 4 to the movies and drop $50.00 (thats conservative) 0n tickets and refreshments because actors and actresses are overpaid. To each his own I guess.

Spending $100,000 on a kids birthday party is nuts. Suri would've been just as happy if they would've thrown one cupcake and a few balloons in front of her. Of course the party wasn't about her though, it was about Tom & Katie impressing their friends.

I'm sorry, I don't care how much money you have, it makes no sense to spend that much on a birthday party for a toddler. They won't even remember it!

Huge waste of money. Suri should have had one cake, and mini guests for heavens sake. Adults are far too absurd here.

I have to agree, feed the hungry first. Share some of that cake.

Why give a kid reason not to sleep for 5 days at 2 years old.

What to expect for sweet 16? Yikes.

Who is surprised that they dropped this amount? Seriously I'm not. I bet Katie didn't eat one of those cupcakes, that's not on the Victoria Beckham diet!

Elisa said:

Ha! I also agree that the amount of money is absurd. Did they hire a party planner too?

the whole "hasn't slept in 5 days" was a J-O-K-E!!!

That party was waaaaaaaaaay over the top. Of course Suri's birthday should be celebrated, but with that expense? Ridiculous! I am appalled!

I am all for going all out for your kids birthday parties but with SOME discretion. $17,000 on flowers alone is ridiculous, now add in the other expenses and you've got just straight-up BS! She's 2 not 20. Let's hope she isn't a future Paris or Lindsay --especially with parents splurging on her already...

WOW! Reading that just made me feel bad. My daughter will be 2 y/o on May 23rd and there is no way she will have anything close to that....oh well she'll grow up appreciating the simplier things in life.

..but nobody would have whined had Brangelina done that, now would they??

Yes, yes, I forgot, they're the caped crusaders, flying in their fuel-spewing jet to make nice all over the world...hypocrites.

Leave TomKat alone, To them, it was just their 2-year olds party, and hey, it's not like they rented out Disneyland and cheated you and your kids...

That's exactly what I can't stand, just throwing money away.

Where you at, JD?????????? LOL

I really don't understand why you guys are judging them. If you were that rich I bet you will live a luxurious life and give your kid the best birthday party ever, Suri is their first child as a couple, and if I'm not mistaken she is their first blood child. If you have kids, I bet for their first few birthdays you spent a little bit too much to ensure they had a great party. Yes, they could've done it without spending that much but they live in a different world. You know if they gave her a cheap party everyone would make a deal about it. So get over it. Tom and Katie are good philanthropists so why not give them a break. If you want to help the hungry kids so badly, get offline, go make money and you donate.

I AGREE WITH EVERYONE ELSE 100,000 FOR A BIRTHDAY PARTY SHE WON'T EVEN REMEMBER. THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO HOME'S OR FOOD WOULD REALLY HAVE APPRECIATED A PIECE OF THAT.

I cant believe anybody would agree that it was normal to spend that kind of money on a party for a two year old. Regardless of how much money you had. She is two years old! It doenst matter if you are rich or not, if they wanted to blow money they couldof helped the starving kids like a other member said. Yeah , I know that is their child, but remember she is a child, OMG> It would be nice to have that kind of money dont dare get me wrong, but they forsure spent their money crazy here. She would of been just as happy with a few flowers and a few balloons. and ofcourse gifts for her. I cant get give over that they got a personilized cake for each guest, and tons of cupcakes. My gosh they couldof got away with giving each person a piece of cake or maybe two pieces. dang. It hasnt nothing to do with judging them as people themselves. I am sure they are really good people, but truth be known, no one here really knows since we dont know them personally. but even good people can make stupid decisions. and this article proved that!

Hi, back again. Now to this over the hill party who was it for the adults or kids??? Guess what she is now 2yrs old and no one at that age will remember this over the hill party. Showing off with these parties makes you look foolish. Bet u she loved the boxes and of course the balloons. Waste of money, this party was not for her it was for Katies and Tom working on the marriage. Why not give a chq from the birthday girl to those who are hungry, as I am sure when she is older it would make her feel more for her nutty parents. Too much means trouble is lying somewhere hmmm wonder where.
