Jay Leno Under Fire For "Gay" Remarks
Touching on the fact that Ryan had played a gay teen on the soap One Life to Live, Jay proceeded to ask the actor, "Can you give me, like – say that camera is your gay lover... Can you give me your 'gayest look?'
"Say that camera is Billy Bob – Billy Bob has just ridden in shirtless from Wyoming," Jay went on, as Ryan looked like he wanted to run (watch it here).
"Wow," Ryan finally said. "That is so something I don't want to do."
Playwright Jeff Whitty, who is openly gay, was in the audience for the debacle, and the Avenue Q creator later blogged about It. "Would you ask a guest to make their 'blackest face?' Their 'Jewiest face?' Why not?"
Good point -- this is why we watch Letterman.

It can go either way (no pun intended!) It's either funny or really offensive. You have to watch what you say these days. Maybe Jay should take some clues from what happened with Imus.
...or maybe people need to lighten up! seriously! can anyone say anything anymore without people being offended?
I just watched it and I thought it was funny, which I'm sure Jay meant it to be like that. That Ryan sure is a hunk though!
I'm sure it wasn't meant to be offensive, but it kind of is. It's perpetuating stereotypes, and assuming that we can actually tell a persons' sexual orientation out there simply by their looks, and for the most part you can't. It's demeaning. There is not outright "gay" look and I find this 'joke' more stupid than anything, but I'm not easily offended or gay (I have a lot of gay friends, tho). But Jay should really watch himself. He's toeing the line here.
It is said that he met his wife, a beautiful model, on a tall dating site Tallkiss.com, where many tall models, tall players and tall admirers seeking love. Is that true?
my advice to jeff whitty is to not go to jay lenos show and to get a sense of humor if hes so upset by such anothing comment ,and hes asking an actor to act and trying to entertain an audience when did we become a super sensitve bunch of stiffs change the channel or get up and leave
Oh I think people need to relax, and think that's nothing worth getting offended over. If Ryan instead had had a hot love scene with some beautiful woman, and Jay had said, 'okay look at the camera and pretend it's (ummm...Angelina Jolie), and give me you most your most lustful I'm going to devour you face' , no one would care. No one would say, oh, he's stereotyping hetero-sexuals.... trying to be funny. I agree with b razzle
i don't think he's gay; he's absolute straight!'coz i know he's dating some gils on millionaireloves.com!! and it turned out he's knida popular there!
If you have ever watched Letterman make fun of a guest at their expense this is pretty lame, don't watch it if your sensitive. That is why it is called "Late night".
Oh come ON!! Nobody can say ANYTHING anymore! Would there have been any big deal if Jay had said to make a heterosexual face? Absolutely not! Get a sense of humour, people! Everyone's getting WAYYYYYYY too sensitive!!
I guess Jay needed to PAY him for him to act gay. "Oh, Im offended when Im not been paid."
If people want to be offended about anything, how about the fact that Jay Leno has all of the wit of a lump of clay, and still has somehow managed to stay on television for years, putting people to sleep with his dull, predictable, and sophomoric jokes for years. How does this guy manage to keep his job? I can think of a hundred people funnier than him, and he has absolutely no charisma.
He actually seems like a nice guy, and maybe he would actually be funny if he had a stand up show where he could say what he wanted, but I doubt it. His show makes me seriously wonder if a good portion of our population is brain damaged.
I can't believe you all are just realizing what a jerk he is. I've known for years he gets his kicks off of making fun of other people, be it fat people, gay people, anyone who has made a snafu in public, nothing is off limits to Mr. Leno. I no longer watch him and haven't done so since, about four years ago. I just finally got tired of him always disrespecting people that he thinks he can get a cheap laugh off of and butt kissing the pretty little starlets or even the older stars if they've dressed provocatively. The funny thing is he appears to think he is such hot stuff, get real!!! Lenoed out in Kentucky. I'd watch Letterman anyday or hmmm night.
Yeah, I agree with you, although I thought I was pretty used to Jay's sense of humor, I was a little taken back by his comment as well.
