No New Clothes for Sarah's Son

sarahjessicaparkerson.jpg

I always thought that Sarah Jessica Parker's 5-year-old son, James Wilkie, was dressed nicely whenever we see pics of him. Looks like we have Sarah's mom to thank for that.

SJP told Parade that James "only wears hand-me-downs because I've got all these older nephews...That's the God's honest truth. Plus, My mother saved all my brothers' clothes. I am not kidding. I don't think I've ever bought him any clothes. Maybe a new winter's coat..."

Of course, she'd make her Sex and the City character Carrie proud on one front. "I do buy him shoes," Sarah said.

I have to admit the same. I think I've bought my 1 year old one pair of shoes, seriously. She has older cousins and I just get so much great clothes. I literally have tons that she hasn't even had the chance to wear yet! It's great and as she grows out of clothing I box it up for the next girl!

I seriously don't believe that story. I have a son and totally gave him hand-me downs, but to say that she has bought him nothing except for shoes seems like a stretch for me. Especially when she is into clothes as much as she is. This kinda makes me think that she has no time to shop for him. I hope that's not true cuz I am a fan of hers for a long time and I think her little boy is just darling.

She's a weird one anyway. Obviously she's all about herself with trying to keep up with her Sex and The City image that she doesn't care to buy her son clothes. She's loaded...why dress her son in hand me downs that are out dated? Why not give them to charity and buy the kid some cute, stylish clothes? Strange

I don't feel like I'm a bad mother for doing what I do, seeing as my daughter's clothes are by no means out dated. I don't shop for myself so I guess if I did I would feel bad. I'm in uniform every day and when I do go out once in a while I have so much to wear. Wow, I need to get out more...

There's a saying that goes like this: "You can tell how good of a woman, a woman is by seeing her children and husband's clothes." "You can tell how good of a man a man is by seeing his wife's clothes." Hand-me-downs are ok, but for a rich woman like her not spend money on her only child. How frugal is she, what type of mother is she? She wouldn't wear any hand-me-downs, would she? I love the way Katie Holmes is, alway having Suri in the best outfits. Now that's a good mom.

Must be nice to hvae a large family to get clothes from!

SJP seems to just have diarahea of the mouth. She admits to not buying clothes for her son (I agree with the comments of those who think she should be buying him clothes but she's just worried about herself) and she also said this week in an interview that her husband has no friends! THINK before you SPEAK SJP! These stories are not endearing!

I had totally forgot she had a son... good job keeping him out of the public eye. She's doing something right.

Frankly, I think it's wonderful that she dresses her son in hand-me-downs. The article also talks about how she wants her son to understand the meaning of work, and how hard her and Matt worked in order to get where they are. She talks about how James' life is not "reality." She was one of eight young children, grew up herself on hand-me-downs. I find it appalling that Susie would call Katie Holmes a good mother because she buys her child the "best clothes." That's utterly ridiculous. Teaching your child that consumerism and materialism is a sign of a good parent is despicable. Not only is using hand-me-downs environmentally friendly, but it makes sense if the clothes are there... why go out and buy new clothes when you have great choices of hand-me-downs within your family? It not only makes SJP a good mom, but a conscious consumer-- perhaps it makes up for her own fashionista obsessions.
