Comedian George Carlin Dies
Sad news as one of the funniest -- and raunchiest -- comedians has died.
George Carlin passed away from heart failure Sunday, his rep said. The funny man, who has had a history of heart problems and smoked like a chimney, had been complaining of chest pains.
George was not just a comedian -- he was an actor (Remember him in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure?), an author, and an award-winner. He produced 23 comedy albums, 14 HBO specials, three books, a couple of TV shows and appeared in several movies, winning four Grammys for best spoken comedy album, and was nominated for five Emmy awards. He was also the very first host of Saturday Night Live in 1975.
George was slated to take home the 2008 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in November.
"In his length career as a comedian, writer, and actor, George Carlin has not only made us laugh, but he makes us think," Stephen Schwarzman, Kennedy Center chairman, said in a statement. "His influence on the next generation of comics has been far-reaching."
Take a look back at George's life:From what I've seen of George there's no doubt he went down fighting -- RIP.

The world has lost a very funny man.....
To bad he didnt believe in God...thats when I would change the channel...when he started making fun of people who did believe...I pray that he changed sometime before he died
I was gonna say something nice about him until I read Dawns comment...adios
Rest in peace to one of the world's greatest comedians even if he didn't believe in god. People have their own religion and shouldn't be shunned for it.
THIS HAS SADDEND MY HEART - WHAT A TERRIBLE LOSS - GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY AND I'M SURE EVERYONE IN HEAVEN IS ENJOYING IS NATURAL SENSE OF HUMOR AND WISDOM
I was shattered when I heard George Carlin had died. I got his "AM & FM" album for my 13th birthday and never looked back. To this day I listen to his old albums and laugh my butt off. He was a blessing to me, helped me laugh through some very tough times in my life. Rest well, George, you won't be forgotten.
I was a huge fan of George's back in the :70 and 80's" but in the later years his bitchy comedy was about as funny as three years of Larry the cable guy, still have great memories of the times I had when he was at his best. Wonder if he's trying to explain his atheist attitude to God. NOW WHO'S LAUGHING.
He was a funny comedian and I enjoy watching his shows, I am going to miss him.rest in peace george carlin.
See Dr, thats what Im talking about...im not trying to judge him...but when he started talking bad about God and believers of God..how stupid we were..and religion was the biggest load of crap there was,Well thats when i said thats enough..Chrissy said no one should be shunned for their religion..Exactly...and to hear him talk he had no religion at all...I could be wrong..but being a believer I would never mock God
Everyone has their own beliefs and even if he didn't believe in God, I pray he was proven wrong and has been forgiven for his doubt. I don't think God would send a person to hell just because the man made a living sayng he doesn't believe. I am sure they are discussing a lot of things;-)
He was a funny man, made me and my family and friends laugh a lot. There was nobody like him and that is what made him unique and unforgettable.
We will miss you George, R.I.P. My condolences to the family, at least he is now with his wife, Brenda and dog. He was always an animal lover, I am sure they were waiting for him when his time came.
Your books, movies, specials, etc...will immortalize you. Thanks for making the world a better place by reminding us to laugh at ourselves everyday:0)
Love you George! God Bless You!

Sorry everyone, I didn't mean for this to print twice. These blogs either take your entry multiple times or not at all..I cannot win:) Forgive me for the taking up unncessary space. Take-care
In my opinion, even if he proclaimed not to believe in "GOD" he believed in a higher power. Stop the hate bashing , you suppose to be christians. I've loved him since the 60's. My deepest sympathy to his close friends' and family! GET off your high horse "DAWN"....you don't know him...judge not let yee be judged. Now hhow about a little respect for the dead!!!!!!!!!!!
keeping it: No one said they hated George, the conversation was a respectful opinion on George and his views which is what blogging one's opinion is all about, maybe you need to get off your high horse. I also said that I had wonderful memories about when his life was at it's fullest. If no one ever questions the process of life it would be awfull damn boring, George, God rest his soul, would love the debate. He'd be all up in it. Hang in their Dawn, I GOT IT COVERED.
May you rest in peace George and know that you made the people of the world smile, laugh and enjoy life all the more! You made this world a funnier, more interesting and a better place with your style of humor! I enjoyed seeing you on stage and listening to the tapes I had of you. Whenever I had a rough day I'd pop you in and start laughing my head off and the blues were forgotten!
For those that are beratting him because he didn't believe in God...isn't that the point of why the settlers first came here?? For religious FREEDOM!! That means it's a person's right to believe or not believe....just because they don't follow your beliefs does NOT make them a lesser person.
My prayers are with your family George....you will be missed!
I never thought he had a problem with people who had faith. When he went off against religion, it was about inconsistencies: pro-lifers who kill doctors or who are against public assistance, priests tied up in sex scandals, that type of thing.
He was an incredible talent. His wit and insight were great asssets to this world.
Thank you Dr...I didnt mean any disrespect...sorry if it sounded that way..I just said how I felt offended at times..And yes please God rest his soul...and rest in peace
Anyone watch Larry king live last night where they talked to his daughter and brother? It was said he was caring , sweet, and compassionate of others. Now, isn't that how God would have us be,? (I agree with Brenda w.) The man was a very loving humaan being. Religion is a choice. I believe in God, some may believe in a tree...who cares ? Why should it matter? We should all be kind and loving to one another. I don't think dr. needs to defend Dawn. She can speak for herself. ooooooh, so afraid of you dr. ha! ha!
