Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi Set A Date

ellenportiakiss.jpgEllen DeGeneres
and Portia de Rossi are going all out for their wedding. The duo, who attended Friday night's Daytime Emmy Awards, told reporters that the plans for their "dream wedding" are well underway. Ellen announced on her show last month, after the California Supreme Court decided to overturn the ban on gay marriage, that she and her girl would be tying the knot.

"How do I feel about it? I obviously feel like it's long overdue," the comedienne said. "I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous that we don't all have the same rights."

As for their own nups, Ellen said that they are making headway. "We have set a wedding date," she said on the red carpet, where Portia was sportin' a brand new ring, complete with pink diamonds.

Some of the wedding will air on Ellen's talk show (yay!) and the Emmy-winner (she won her fourth consecutive for Outstanding Talk-Show Host on Friday) says the entertainment will be pretty good, telling reporters "incredible people" will sing at their ceremony.

There will, no doubt, be a ton of dancing. Can't wait!

I'm not turned off by it and have some gay friends but just don't get gay and lesbian. It has never made any sense to me and never will, guess I will always be traditional, still will not judge people who feel compeled.

I am gay and happy for the decision for people like me to get married. They said at the courthouse this morning that I can't get married to my blow up doll. Shucky darn.

I am so gay.

We will see how long this lasts when it gets put on the ballot and people can vote.

First Homosexual marriage.. next will be multiple spouses as we all have the capability to love more then one person and I'm waiting to see if people now start that up.

I wonder if it happened would the Mormon Church reinstate their old tenets of their faith??

Yay, looking forward to seeing outtakes from her wedding, her show is so great. You've gotta love her personality. Looks like their wedding preparations are really under way, if Portia also sports a big sparkler. Perhaps they will start adopting once married? I'm sure they'd be great as parents!

I don't see nothing wrong with people getting married. Same sex or opposite sex is not a issue. People have the right to their own beliefs but don't expect the whole world to agree with them. The United States is changing and we will never be the same after that tragic day on 9/11. We can either fight against it or just go along with it. Its not all about us as adults any more but more about the future of our children. Just because people don't believe in same sex marriage doesn't mean your children share your views.

I am VERY happy for Ellen and Portia. I saw the episode where she announced her engagement and you could see in both of them how happy and so much in love with each other. I wish them nothing but good things for them. Not only in their personal life but also in there professional life's as well! Look forward to seeing next seasons shows.

I wish them all the joy in the world. I'm not sure this is the place to enter into a debate about the legality or merits of gay marriage, so I'll focus instead on wishing two people lots of luck. I hope they bring one another as much joy as my wife has brought me.
