Is There Trouble For Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner?

benjen.jpg
The usually very reliable Ted Casablanca broke my heart a little last week, when he speculated that Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were heading for a split. And, because Bennifer are hardly ever photographed together, it's difficult for us to monitor the state of their union. But Jen's rep quickly squashed the breakup talk, telling UsMagazine.com that they story was completely fabricated.

"There is not one ounce of truth to it," the rep said.

Concurring with the denials, Ben told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush that all is well at home.

“We’re very happy," the Ben of Ben & Jen said. "Things couldn’t be better. We’re kind of taking it easy and just kind of enjoying a little downtime at home."

This puts my mind at ease, I think, 'cause I just couldn't deal with the thought that my cutie Violet's world would be torn apart.

No matter what, I don't think Vi's world would be "torn apart." Yes, her life would be different, of course, but many families- actually, the majority it would seem, are "split families" and it's become so normal that it can't really be thought of as not normal. Besides, if a couple are fighting consistently, it might be better if the parents were separated so the child wouldn't have to deal with it. I'm not saying that's what's going on here, I'm just stating a general opinion.

Courtney, as someone who works with students every day as a school counselor, I have seen first hand how divorce tears them apart, regardless of how common and "normal" it's becoming. Just because other people are going through it, too, doesn't mean that it's any easier for the children involved.

I agree Courtney. Some mommies and daddies are better at their job if they aren't married anymore. With the right communication and love...they end up just fine. I hope Ben and Jennifer aren't having troubles. Can't celebrities stay at home for a while without people thinking it's a bad thing? My husband and I "vegged" on the couch all day yesterday and it was wonderful!

Who knows? They seem like a normal couple. However, one day everything is fine and the next day it's not. Life is like that. Rumor might be incorrect at this time--but no guarantee they (or anyone else) will be with same person forever. Much as I dislike that other couple (Brangelina), they are sensible not to make vows that possibly (probably) will end up broken. As for the children of these wealthy people, there's always a huge cushion of money for all concerned. I only worry about kids left in poverty.

"I only worry about kids left in poverty." What an ignorant statement. Children are children regardless. Do you think that just because these kids have money coming from a broken home is going to hurt less? Do you think that money erases memories of parents screaming at each other, brutal custody battles, drawn out divorce proceedings, or having to bounce between two homes? I can assure you that it does not. Money does not buy happiness and it doesn't solve all problems.
