Sorry, but I can. Charity begins at home. There are plenty of Americans who need assistance and adopting. Unless something major like 911 or Katrina occurs, you never hear about celebrity good deeds on our home turf. Africa should be taking care of Africans. Europe should be taking care of Europeans. Americans should be taking care of Americans.

I'm not a Brangelina hater. I actually love them, but the concept of taking care of the world is getting out of hand.

I think her good will work is great, I only have one little think I would have said differently: if she says 'they survived...' it doesn not include those, who died during all these horrors, so I would rather say 'they endured' so all are include, but that's really just a minor thing.

And Renee, in principle, you are right, everyone should be able to take care of himself, but sometimes, it doesn't work that way and you need help. With that logic you could also say each person, family or neighborhood should be able to take care of themselves, and we know that it often doesn't work as planned.And taking that to a bigger scale: unfortunately, Africa is by far the continent with the most problems (poverty, hunger, displacement, diseases...), they can't possibly care about every problem themselves. Without outside involvement, the situation would be much worse.

America is not a poor country, the tax system works etc. So instead of putting all those millions into a war by which you cannot hit those responsible for evil deeds, because they have too good connections to be hurt, you hit the masses of innocent people and create a generation of America haters, because their lives were destroyed. Instead, the money could have been used much better to give American children better schooling, healthier lunches, better healthcare, so they can have the same chances growing up than those of rich families. So I think that is the difference between America and Africa, while there are so many poor parts in Africa, so that the few rich parts cannot possibly take care of all of them, in America, there are enough people who can take care of the poor people. What's missing is just more retribution I think. So if all these celebs with millions on their bank accounts only live in luxury, fly private planes and don't care about the rest, perhaps they need a tax raise (and of course the government must do something useful with the money to help the people). Ok, sorry for talking so long...

Sunny, you do have a point. I just don't think the average civilian understands the military and how important it is that we fight for our country. We don't want innocent people to die. We want to help Iraq. We save lives there, we build schools, we provide medical care. They bomb theirselves and their own people just to get a few of us and we physically pick these injured children up and care for them. We want and need the bad guys to back down so that we can have peace...World peace, wow, that would really be amazing. (I'm passionate about this if you can't tell.)

I know the troups are in the Middle East now for very different reasons than in the beginning. I for one would love nothing better than to see them make enough headway in their peacekeeping efforts and training of the local authority so that they could start coming home.

Being Canadian, I think I am just programmed to reject war at all cost. However, we too have troups in Afghanistan, and it is not getting any easier for them either. I want our young men and women to come home, and am sure most feel that way here.

We can't give up on our peacekeeping efforts though, and that is what is and should be the focus now.
