Quote of the Day: Scarlett Johannson On Monogamy

scarlettjocosmo.jpg

"I don't think [being monogamous] is a natural instinct for human beings, but it doesn't mean I don't believe in monogamy or true love. I believe in finding a soul mate. Monogamy can be hard work for some people. I don't think it applies to everybody, and I don't think a lot of people can do it."

--- Newly-engaged Scarlett Johannson, to the new issue of Cosmopolitan

I'm sure her fiancĂ©, Ryan Reynolds, is feeling reeeeaaaaalllly comfortable right about now.

I completely understand what she means though...it may sound bad to say, but I really don't thing one woman-one man is for everyone...who's to say who's right and who's wrong?! I personally live my life that way, but I'm not going to say I'm right...it just works for me and my husband. I think as long as your relationship works for you and your partner, live the way you want!

I like Scarlett Johansson and everything, she's a terrific actress, but comments like this are exactly why people think she's a little trampy.

She's made that comment before and I agree that some people may look at her a little different. Of course it's not a natural instinct, it's a decision that many people make mostly because of their love for someone else. I just don't like how she puts it, like very few people are faithful.

It would suck to make a comment and being branded a tramp for how you think the world revolves and evolves.

She said that ages ago as well, before she was engaged. I don't think there is anything trampy about it; at the core all she said was monogomy can be hard. Considering the divorce rates and how many of those splits are attributed to emotional or physical cheating, what she said shouldn't be shocking to anyone.
