Thousands Come Out to Mourn Bernie Mac
Bernie Mac has some devoted fans.
Thousands of people came out to Chicago for the comic's memorial service on Saturday, some sleeping out in hopes of getting in to the House of Hope church to pay their respects.
Bernie, who passed away too young last week from complications due to pneumonia, was remembered by friends Chris Rock, Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer and Rev. Jesse Jackson, who attended the emotional service. In addition, his wife, Rhonda, was presented with a Chicago White Sox jersey -- with the No.1 and her dearly-departed husband's name on the back.
Mayor Richard Daley remembered the comedian as a person with "a heart and passion. He knew the street, he knew the people, and that's why he was a king of comedy," he continued. "He wanted to do something personally to get children away from the life of violence. . . . He never lost his soul in Chicago."
R.I.P., Bernie.

I first befriended Bernie Mac at a club in Chicago when he was just starting out. He was a really nice grounded man who didn't let the club scene affect who he was as a person. He used to tell this joke about what some would call a 'well endowed' body part of mine. It was embarassing, but he later apologized and said it wouldn't have been funny if he told me about it in advance. He will be missed.
suree he did...
Bernie we love you and will forever miss you.
See you in heaven, tell Richard(Pryor)Hey!!
