DJ AM Dies

Adam Goldstein -- better known as DJ AM -- has died. He was 36.

According to TMZ, he was found in his New York City apartment around 5 pm after not being seen or heard from in days. After a friend went to check in on him and was met with no response, he called the police. The police then broke down the door and found DJ's body.

The website also states that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene. In a 2008 interview with Glamour, Adam opened up about his past demons -- including an addiction to food, drugs, alcohol and a failed suicide attempt. He just recently finished shooting a mini-series for MTV about drug addiction, in which he also spoke of his past troubles.

As many will remember, DJ AM and Travis Barker were in a plane crash in September 2008. They were the only survivors.

Minutes after the news of his death broke, Shanna Moakler -- Travis' ex -- twittered: "My deepest condolences for DJ AM, you were a great artist and will be severely missed. My thoughts and Prayers to his family and friends."

Leave your condolences for Adam's friends and family below.

DJ AM, MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. TURN THE MUSIC UP. I hope all his hard work in helping those people who struggle with addiction will not have Been in vain. I hope they all learn a life leason and realize that the addiction is no joke and stronger and bigger than one could ever imagine. I myself struggled with addiction, my personal feeling is that the show might have been too much, too soon. PLEASE TO ALL WHO STRUGGLE WITH THE ADDICTION ...TAKE A GOOD HARD LOOK DEEP DOWN IN YOUR SOUL...AND PLEASE LEARN FROM THIS. IT'S WAITING FOR YOU TO SLEEP ON IT ( YOUR ADDICTION ). My prayers too his family and to all who were close enough to have had the privalge to call him a FRIEND !

Although I do not know DJ AM personally I really feel sad about his passing. I only hope that he received some type of counseling for his past addictions and for the terrible event that probably pushed him over the edge(Airplane Crash). I think that we should not focus on what was found in his apartment, instead we should focus on a life that was lost and what we can do to prevent this from happening to others. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Everyone please PRAY for him.

This is a sad day. He will never be forgotton. I think that surviing the crash had a very negative affect on him. Its called surviors guilt. often times when people survive tramatic events such as a plane crash they feel they should have died. and a lot of time it leads to suicide. unfortunatly thats probably what happened.

Someone should have seen the signs. but now its to little to late.

DJ AM, you will always be in our prayers and so will your family. your a great person and you will always be remembered and loved!!
