Kelly's Weight Controversy
Kelly Clarkson appears on the cover of the September issue of Self, but her smiling picture is garnering some negative attention.
It's obvious that the cover image was massively Photoshopped before it hit the stands; more than half of Kelly's left arm is cropped out, her white pants blend into the background, making her appear slimmer, and a yellow blurb is placed over the top of her backside. Self emphasizes healthy living and self-confidence for women of all sizes, so it's slightly bothersome that they altered Kelly's image so drastically.
"Yes, of course we do post-production corrections on our images," Self's Editor-in-Chief, Lucy Danziger, explained. "Airbrushing images is an industry standard, and the mag stands behind its decision. Kelly Clarkson exudes confidence, and is a great role model for women of all sizes and stages of their life."
If my weight was the subject of so much conversation, I would be kind of uncomfortable. Kelly, on the other hand, is completely cool about it. "My happy weight changes... Sometimes I eat more; sometimes I play more," she told Self. "I'll be different sizes all the time. When people talk about my weight, I'm like, 'You seem to have a problem with it; I don't. I'm fine!' I've never felt uncomfortable on the red carpet or anything."
What do you think of the magazine's decision to airbrush the cover? How would you feel if you were Kelly?

This is why so many women are obsessed with their weight and want to be so thin. Pics of celebrities should not be photo shopped so that everyone can see that they too battle with their weight. Maybe then women wouldn't be so obsessed with their weight and become anorexic.
