Should More Average-Sized Women Be on TV?

With the plethora of new shows like More to Love and Dance Your Ass Off showcasing much bigger women than we're used to seeing on the tube, is society suddenly more accepting of plus-sized ladies?

"Average women," model, fashion designer, and host of More to Love, Emme, corrects an interviewer. Just so you know, 56% percent of American women wear plus sizes, which start at size 14 or 16, depending on the brand.

"I think these welcomed shows are opening the aperture," the gorgeous full-figured woman says. "These are fun shows to watch, and they are really taking the perspective of the full-sized woman and bringing it into the type of package people can relate to."

At the heart of these refreshing shows is the message that we're all the same on the inside -- no matter the size of our jeans. We all want to feel good about ourselves, achieve great things, and find love in our lives -- so why should the skinny girls be the only ones to get the opportunity on TV?

Have you been watching More to Love, Dance, or the bigger-girl show Drop Dead Diva? Should there more shows like these on the tube?

Yes, they should have women of all sizes, ages, races. Same with men.

I mean really?!?!? They think these shows are good for "normal sized" women? I hate to tell whoever wrote this "article" this, but all they do on those shows is exploit the fact that these people are overweight!
I was flipping through the channels the other night & stopped on "more to love" and every time they put a woman's interview on there, they listed her weight! Who gives a shit what her weight is!
Give me a break!

are you kidding me? those tv shows are insanely degrading towards plus-sized women!

the whole point of dance your ass off! is to LOSE weight. so they too, can be like one of those super skinny women on tv. and the outfits they put them in are very unflattering and there are some very odd sexual innuendos.

and "more to love" is w/ a chubby chaser. as far as i'm concerned, love is ab/ the person, not their weight. and putting their weight on the tv screen is so demeaning, i can't even believe it. even most skinny girls are embarrassed about their weight. when you're a woman who weighs over 200 pounds, it's got to be a little bit of a blow to the ego.

shows that do feature plus-sized women in a positive light?
american idol
the tyra banks show
return to fat camp (on mtv)

that's because american idol judges ppl on their talent, not their dress size. and tyra's all about loving your body no matter what your size is. and fat camp shows the very real struggles that obese people go through every day.
