chrisitnaaguilera's new album.jpg

This is the cover Christina Aguilera's newest album (CD? what are the kids calling it these days), Keep Gettin' Better, which is actually a slew of the mom's greatest hits.

As seen at this year's MTV VMAs, Christina is boasting a new, more futuristic look this time out, putting her fresh-faced Genie In A Bottle, dirty-looking Dirrrty look, and Marilyn Monroe-like, Old Hollywood glamour looks behind her. Her new face is more The Jetsons-meets-Eighth-Grade-Girl-who-just-discovered-Wet-n-Wild-lipstick.

Your thoughts?

Holy mama!

Christina Aguilera debuted a new look at last night's VMAs, with super-straight blonde locks, bangs, and just about the sickest post-baby body we've seen -- ever. Seriously, how small is her waist?

The former dirrrtty girl performed a brand new song, "Keep Gettin' Better" and a nod to her roots with "Genie In A Bottle," all while rockin' a kinda futuristic look. Her performance was killer (as always), but her new image may be my favorite yet.

What do you guys think of the new Xtina?

jordinsparksmtv.jpgJordin Sparks
is a good girl with good morals -- and nobody, not even the incoherent host of 2008 MTV VMAs, is going to make that look uncool.

While Russell Brand (note to MTV: please don't EVER hire him again -- for anything) continued to make terribly unfunny jokes about The Jonas Brothers and their purity rings all night, another ring-wearer, Jordan, took it upon herself to stand up for all the virgins in the house.

"I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It's not bad to wear a promise ring," Jordin told the crowd, before introducing T.I's performance, "because not everybody – guy or girl – wants to be a slut."

Hands in the air for the teen who doesn't care what people think! Jordin should be super proud of herself, as I'm sure her parents are. And for my friend Donna, who couldn't believe that the American Idol winner was as pure as she said, no Don, still, nobody has "tapped that Sparky ass."

Meanwhile, Russell, who I'm sure was forced to try and redeem himself, came back and said of purity rings, "I didn't meant to take it lightly. I don't want to piss off teenage fans. Promise rings, I'm well up for it. [But] a bit of sex, it never hurt anybody."

Oy.

No, Britney Spears didn't perform at last night's VMAs, but it doesn't matter. Girl was definitely the star of the evening.

Form her opening skit with Superbad's Jonah Hill, to her introduction to the show, to picking up all three (!) of the awards she was nominated for, Britney more than redeemed herself for last year's debacle. While accepting her Moonmen, Britney thanked God, her boys, her manager, Larry Rudolph, and her fans. When it was time to pick up trophy No. 3, the comeback kid was bewildered. "I'm in shock," she told the crowd.

What a night for Brit! From the looks the of her (looking as good as she has in the old days, in a silvery Versace dress), and the crowd's response (they were going crazy for her), everybody really is going to want a piece of her -- in a good way.

Congrats Brit!

Video: Britney's Back!

Britney Spears is finally giving us more.

Check out this new "secret" video of the pop star rehearsing a never-before-seen dance routine. But what's it for? The VMAs, where she isn't supposed to be performing? A tour she has yet to announce? Don't know, but she looks damn good doin' it.

Enjoy.

There's a lot to be seen at Sunday's VMAs.

In addition to the recent announcement the good old Britney Spears will be opening the show, many other huge names will be taking the stage for some hot performances.

Proving that everything old is new again, "I Kissed A Girl" singer Katy Perry is slated to sing Madonna's "Like A Virgin!"

"There's a lot of virginity and lesbianism going on at the show," host Russell Brand told reporters at a press event Thursday.

Russ also made me giggle when he referred to the Jonas Brothers as "God's favorite virgins," before revealing that the Bros requested they be introduced by Taylor Swift (who may or may not be dating Joe Jonas) -- joking it was "a decision made from below their sexy little waists."

Christina Aguilera will perform "Keeps Getting Stronger" from her new album. "You're going to get a first look and a first listen at my new image and my new sound," Xtina revealed. "The last album, the style and sound was about vintage glam - this one is all about the future."

Also shaking things up on stage, T.I. will perform with Rihanna, and Kanye West, yes, Kanye "I'm boycotting MTV" West will be closing the festivities.

It sounds like it's going to be great. I hope I'm not too old to enjoy it.

Hell has apparently frozen over, people.

Britney Spears will be opening Sunday's MTV VMAs. Don't get me wrong -- nobody said she was performing, actually the press people made it clear that there wouldn't be a performance (a blessing?), but it's still bound to be monumental. The comeback kid is nominated for three moon men; Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.”

“MTV has long played an important role in my career," Brit said in a statement. "How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA’s?  I'm excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”

I bet she is going to look ridiculously good. All of a sudden I'm excited!

Don't miss the VMAs, this Sunday on MTV, starting at 9pm.

May I present to you, the new and improved, hot as heck, from bald to babe, back on the VMAs -- Britney Spears! See for yourself, people. She is back to being one adorable baby mama.

Good for Britney Spears, who isn't backing away from this year's MTV Video Music Awards, despite the fact that she was basically the laughingstock of the 2007 broadcast.

Nope, you can't keep Brit down, as the on-the-mend pop star is appearing with the show's host, Russell Brand, in some new promos for the awards broadcast taking place on September 7.

Brit, who is nominated for two "moonmen" this year laughs it up in a spot that is "mostly ad-libbed, with Russell asking her for advice about hosting the show," a source told E!. "There's also a 9,000-pound elephant in it, as in 'the elephant in the room.'"

Nobody's confirming that Britney will be performing at the awards this time around, but MTV certainly wants us to hold on to that hope.

"Everyone deserves a second or third chance ... who knows?" MTV president Van Toffler mysteriously said.

What do you think? Would she really do it?

britsecondchance.jpg
MTV fans believe in second chances.

As you know, this year's VMA nominees are being chosen in part by the viewers, who have been given the chance to vote for their faves. Well, Miss Britney Spears has just come out on top, earning a slot in the Best Female Video category for "Piece of Me."

Rumors are still running rampant about the possibility of a VMA Britney do-over. Would she really return for another performance? Man, that would take nerve after last year's debacle, but she really is so much better now. I think.

Tell me, do you want to see Brit perform?

jonasbrithers.jpg
I can hear the screams already.

The ridiculously popular trio called The Jonas Brothers (heard of them?) will be performing for the very first time on the the MTV Video Music Awards comes September. And, if that's not enough to get your teen's head to explode, the brothers three will be singing a brand new song on the broadcast.

If all goes right in the world I will have a front-and-center seat for the madness, bringing you every little minutia of the night's festivities. I'm sure I'll need some sort of medication to cure the bleeding in my ears afterward, but it will definitely be worth it. Fingers crossed, kids!

The VMAs will air Sept. 7 on MTV.

britneyvmahollywood.jpg
MTV is going all out this year for the big 25th anniversary of the Video Music Awards.

25 years! Wow!

The network is taking over the Paramount lot in Hollywood for the festivities, which will air on September 7. According to an MTV press release, the awards will be handed out from various locations around the famed studio complex, including city streets, rooftops, and sound stages.

"With Paramount Pictures as the ideal setting, the glamour and musical heritage of L.A. are sure to be catalysts for creating explosive pop culture moments that the VMAs are known for," said President of MTV Networks Music Group, Van Toffler.

You'll also get a chance to put your stamp on the show, as MTV is letting viewers help choose the nominees this year.

Sounds awesome! I'm hoping to get there this year to live blog -- then I can bring you all the craziness front and center. Like Kanye West and his inevitable bitchfest and all the drunk stars. Could Britney be brave enough to perform again? Wooohoooo!

Britney Spears was seen partying the night before her VMA performance with Diddy and friends, but the rap mogul told Access Hollywood that, contrary to reports, the pop star was not drinking -- at least when he was around.

“The times that I was around her, in her defense, she don’t drink any alcohol. I didn’t see her drink. You know I was hospitable, I offered everybody a drink and you know she had water,” he said.

Instead of resting up for her comeback, Britney reportedly partied until all hours of the night on both Friday and Saturday night, leading up to the show.

“At 3am when you see her, as a performer do you say to yourself ‘you should be going to sleep now, you are opening the VMA’s tomorrow,‘” AH's asked Billy Bush asked Diddy.

“Everybody has their own way,” he replied. “Some people deal with, you know, nerves, they can’t go to sleep and you don’t know what the problem is. To just say ‘Oh, her career is over she [is] done,’ to discount all her work beforehand because she is a human being — we all go through hard times.”

I know! Maybe Brit can be on the next installment of MTV's Making the Band! Though, if her moves from the VMA performance are any indication of her star quality, we doubt Brit would make it through the first round of cuts.

As I told you yesterday, Kanye West kicked and screamed after he was the biggest loser at Sunday's VMAs. Now there's a wonderful video on YouTube that shows the whole thing!

Meanwhile, MTV has reached out to Kanye, after he threatened to boycott the network, releasing this statement:

"MTV has a long and collaborative relationship with Kanye and we hope and look forward to continuing that meaningful relationship."

I bet they'd even set up a portable crib for him in his dressing room.

Tough guy rapper, Kanye West is throwing a tantrum because he didn't take home any of the five VMAs he was nominated for, but he's hiding behind the guise that MTV "exploited him."

"I wasn't mad that I just didn't win any awards," Kanye told New York's Z-100. "For me, [MTV] made it seem like performing on the main stage was a bad thing, and the suites were just so great. It was my dream when I made 'Stronger' to open up the VMAs with a real power performance.

"And I just feel like I got betrayed by them," the rapper continues. "I feel like they tried to make it seem like I was so into everything that was going on in the show."

He also jumps to Britney Spears's defense, saying that the network used her, as well.

"They exploited Britney in helping to end her career," Kanye said. "When Britney was opening, near the end, I felt so bad for her. I said, 'Man, it's a dirty game. This game will chew you up and spit you out.'"

Kanye has vowed to never work with MTV again, but is sure that he'll still come out on top.

"I have a connection in the fans' heart that the press can't stop," he said.

Here's my personal note to Kanye:

Dear Kanye,
Go cry to your momma. Or put your binky back in and SHUT UP.
Thanks,
Tracy

Brtiney Spears really has nobody to blame but herself for the disaster that was her MTV VMA performance.

Sources say that Britney acted liked she barely cared about anything having to do with her scheduled "comeback" way before she ever took that stage. According to Page Six, Brit arrived hours late to Las Vegas and, when she finally did get there, instead of going straight to rehearsal, the pop tart had herself a little pre-party.

"She went to her hotel room and ordered a bunch of food and some frozen margaritas," a spy said. "She came down, like, an hour later with a frozen margarita in her hand."

Which may have something to do with why Britney forgot the words to her own song and made a mockery of the dance number.

"The dance number was spectacular - without her," said a source who was at rehearsal. "When the stand-in was rehearsing with the dancers, in the hours they were all waiting for her, it was amazing. Then Britney showed up and refused to do anything. The dancers were supposed to lift and twirl her in the air a few times, and that just wasn't going to happen. The more complicated dance moves had to be erased because she couldn't do them."

Britney also picked that winner of an outfit she was wearing, because she didn't like what MTV has chosen for her. The network thought she should wear a corset-type top to flatter her figure, but Brit wanted to sex it up -- hence the black, sparkly bikini thingy she donned.

After her bomb of a performance, Brit allegedly broke down in tears but then partied until 3 a.m. She was, once again, photographed by paparazzi wearing no panties.

I give up.

“I have no words."

-- Kanye West to USA Today, on Britney Spears's embarrassing VMA performance

Some boys just never grow up.

Pamela Anderson exes Tommy Lee and Kid Rock reportedly beat the crap put of each other during last night's MTV VMAs. "Tommy Lee was sitting by Diddy. [Kid Rock] just walked up and decked him!" reported my husband's favorite veejay, Sway.

Another lucky observer said, "They had each other at the necks, they were practically strangling each." Tommy was said to be "screaming the f-word over and over again." He was then escorted out of the festivities and into the main casino of the Palms.

When Jamie Foxx came out to present an award with Jen Garner, the actor made fun of the two overgrown babies. "Stop all of this white-on-white crime. Tommy Lee and Kid Rock fighting like black folks – it's hilarious." Later, Diddy took a crack at them. "I was supposed to be doing this with Kid Rock, but you know, we got to stop the violence," he joked. "It's not just hip-hop artists that fight."

No word on whose room Pam ended up in.

UPDATE:
Kid Rock has been cited by police for misdemeanor battery, for the slap that started it all. The maximum punishment for the charge is six months in jail.

Justin Timberlake brought sexy back and yada, yada, yada brought home two big awards from the MTV Video Music Awards. (See our VMA photo recap.) J.T. won both Best Quadruple Threat and Male Artist of the Year, while happiness rained down for Rihanna, who won Video of the Year and Monster Single of the Year for "Umbrella".

But let me say this, teen hottie Chris Brown may not have had any Moon Men in his pocket when he left the VMAs, but boy is leaving with something a heck of a lot more valuable -- mad respect from some of music's biggest people and whole new fan base.

Chris's dance performance was so fantastic, it shamed poor Britney Spears into looking like a So You Think You Can Dance reject. The crowd went wild for Chris, who has moves we haven't seen in ages and who will, no doubt, be one of music's major players in the years to come.

I've been up all night putting together a slide show of photos from the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, which took place last night in Vegas. Yes, it was the setting of Britney Spears's huge comeback. As you already know, the comeback was more of a flop.

Anyway, see the photos and read all about it. Enjoy.

britmtv.jpg
I wanted to love you, Brit. I really did.

Britney Spears took the stage at the MTV VMAs and performed her brand new single, "Gimme More." The performance was so hyped. "This is going to be the greatest comeback in music history," some said, as I hoped. Britney was said to be working with her new best pal, illusionist Criss Angel, to create a show stopping performance filled with tricks that would have us "ooohing" and "ahhhing" all the way to our computers, to download Brit's new album.

But there was no show stopping performance, there were no illusions, and there will be no comeback. Britney seemed like she was barely alive during her lackluster lip-synching debacle. As I was watching her, I felt that embarrassing feeling you get when you watch an R-rated movie with your parents. I wanted to hide my eyes -- or pretend like I wasn't actually seeing what was on the screen. I almost thought she was kidding.

Then it was over and I was left speechless and sad. It sucked. Plain and simple. I wanted to love it, Brit, but I really, really didn't.

No need for the MTV staffers to load up on band-aids and antibiotic ointment, as Amy Winehouse has pulled out of performing at this year's MTV VMAs. After canceling her North American tour, a representative for Amy tells Us Weekly:

"In a continued effort to support Amy Winehouse's well being, in addition to the postponement of her U.S. tour, all other U.S. appearances have been canceled."

Amy has been on the crazy train for weeks now. The most recent nuttiness? Pictures were published of the singer and her hubby, Blake Fielder-Civil, cut and bloodied, after some sort of domestic dispute. According to sources, Amy and Blake are currently vacationing in the Caribbean.

They really should try vacationing, um, I don't know, say, IN REHAB?

Waaaaah! Justin Timberlake told Access Hollywood that stories that he and superstar Madonna will be performing together at the MTV VMAs are false.

"I am not. It was just a rumor," J.T. said. He did, however, talk about what it was like to work with her Madgesty. “There’s only one Madonna. It was amazing. I’m still trying to figure out if she knew we were there, cause I was just constantly staring at her. I became like the weird stalker in the corner!”

Okay.

Hopefully Justin is debunking the MTV rumors in hopes to keep the collaboration under wraps -- then it will be a fabulous surprise for all who are watching. Good idea, huh?

Britney! Why can't you just get it together and do one thing that might help you revive your career?

Page Six says that Britney Spears backed out of recording a new song with former flame Justin Timberlake and uberproducer Timbaland. A music industry source said Justin wrote the duet specifically for Brit, and though they wouldn't actually record together in the studio, his voice would have been mixed with hers later.

"Timbaland set aside a week out of his crazy schedule to do this -- and then, just before she was supposed to fly out, Britney abruptly canceled the session and refused to do the song", said the source. "It's crazy. She's looking for a comeback, and this would have not only been a huge hit, but something she could have opened the MTV Video Awards with and really blown everyone away."

Brit's label, Jive Records, is said to be very worried by the fallen pop star's decision to pull out of what could have put her back on the map. "Listen, everyone is worried. In her mind, her album is done and she's done enough work... She's an easy target right now, because she's... sick. People like her are sick. It's like an anorexic who's sick in the head and needs help. She needs help. It's sad because what she's got -- and we've heard it's like bipolar disorder -- can easily be treated with medication, but she won't do it."

I know I'm deluded, but I still dream of a Britney/Justin reconciliation. They were just so cute together. I'm sad, I know.

This is cool! Entertainment Tonight Canada is reporting that the Material Girl and Mr. SexyBack will be performing together at this year's MTV VMAs!

Madonna and Justin Timberlake have been working on her new album together, and now the unlikely duo will hit the stage for MTV, in what is bound to be a hot performance. Whether you like JT as a person or not, and/or you think it's time for Madge to wheel her old bones to the rec center for Bingo, you have to admit that they are both stellar performers. Together, they will, hopefully, be magic.

What are your thoughts on this upcoming duet? Excited? Don't care? Do tell!

Could it be? Will Britney Spears take time out from fighting for her kids to perform the coveted opening number at the MTV Video Music Awards?

E!Online's gossip guru, Marc Malkin, says that a liitle birdie told him that Brit may just be the show's kick-off performance. It wouldn't be a new gig for Britney (remember the Britney/Madonna/Christina Aguilera kiss? I know you do), but, if done right, it could certainly give Britney the credibility she needs to get back into the good graces of the music biz.

A rep for MTV would not confirm or deny the Britney rumors, but just the thought makes me giddy. maybe she can use Sean and Jayden as backup dancers? That would be sooooo cute, y'all!

No surprises here, really. Two of music biggest names have tied for the most nominations at this year's upcoming MTV Video Music Awards.

Former boy band-er Justin Timberlake and former girl band-er Beyonce can thank their ex-group members for letting them go solo. Each music superstar grabbed a total of seven nominations, which were announced today on Total Request Live. Rhianna and Kanye West tied for second with five noms each, while skinny-mini Amy Winehouse snagged three.

Those up for the biggest award of the night, Video of the Year are: J.T.'s "What Goes Around ... Comes Around," Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable," Kanye's "Stronger," Rihanna's "Umbrella," Amy's "Rehab" and Justice's "D.A.N.C.E."

The awards extravaganza, which will include four new categories this year, will broadcast live from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas at 9 p.m. on Sept. 9.
